Two months had passed and my daily training with Hira was paying off. Once I'd managed to get control over my simpler powers like lighting control and invisibility, we began to work on the harder aspects of my ability, such as force-fields and my aptitude to make weapons. I was okay with the last one. Force-fields were relatively easy, however.
I also found that they paid off when I was sparring with Alex in the training room in the house's basement, like they were at that moment.
Thankfully, last month, Alex's leg had healed allowing him to wreak havoc on the house once again. But I'm not going to say that I didn't miss him.
He swept his foot underneath me and I fell to the ground, rolling out of the way when he tried to punch me in the stomach. He hissed and I heard his knuckles crack a bit on impact. I flicked my wrist and suddenly my claws revealed themselves. I charged at him with a smirk, slicing in his direction with speed and precision. He nearly tripped over himself as he tried to dodge.
He leapt out of my way and landed in a crouch with a satisfied smirk. "I see someone's been practicing. Tired yet, Snow White?"
"Nope, only mildly annoyed that I haven't knocked you on your ass yet." I retorted charging at him again, swinging my fist in his direction. He leaned to the right an avoided the attack before his eyes changed colors. My eyes widened and I summoned a force-field as tongues of flame burst from his hands and flew at me.
"What are you doing?!" I cried as I stomped out the small flames that had caught the carpet on fire.
"It's not hot enough to burn you sissy. I wouldn't do that to you." Alex said smugly.
I huffed. "Dickhead."
"Oh-ho-ho, you're going to regret that." He said as we circled each other.
"Try me." I mused. He launched himself at me in a flurry of kicks and punches, each of which I deflected, some with more difficulty than others, however.
I tried to catch my breath and steady my racing heartbeat, but they weren't leveling out any time soon. With a roll of my eyes, I kicked my foot at Alex but he caught it before it could touch him.
My eyes widened and before knew it, he'd disabled me and had one of his arms around my neck, the other holding my hands behind my back. He leaned down until I could feel his breath tickling my ear. "You know. There's always room for improvement."
I scoffed and struggled against him. "Okay Alex, you won, now let me go."
He hummed to himself, "I actually kind of like having you here, helpless like this." I felt myself freeze up and a shiver run up my spine as he chuckled at my reaction.
"Um...looks like I walked in at the wrong moment..."
Alex instantly let me go and we both looked up with wide eyes to see Evanora standing at the bottom of the stairs with a shocked expression.
"Evie, it's not what it looks like, okay?" I blushed.
"Yeah, we were just training." Alex added rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly as a pink hue rose to his pale cheeks.
"Well I read this one Batman x reader fanfic and it started out with harmless training too, but they ended up rolling around on the floor having sex." She said simply.
"Nora, that's disgusting!" Alex gagged.
She snickered in response. Alex rolled his eyes and grabbed my wrist tugging me out of the basement. "And THAT concludes our sparring session for the day!" He said, more so to Evanora than me, but it made me laugh nonetheless.
