30th June 1997. 20:42.
I yawned loudly and sat down on the entrance hall steps. Remus joined me. We were both patrolling the Hogwarts corridors at night, for protection. And it was serious protection now. The war was worse than ever. He passed me a small cauldron cake.
"I'm so tired of this." I sighed, biting hard into the warm cauldron cake. I groaned in satisfaction. "I get it that we have to protect Hogwarts and everything, but I'm just tired of-"
"The big headed Aurors." Remus finished for me. I nodded.
When Remus and I started patrolling Hogwats at night, we had to join previous Aurors in training we had met, who were now full Aurors. Some of them were complete bitches, like this one named Martha. I had trained with her for a while and she was jealous that I was talented and had a boyfriend (plus I could think of witty combacks). She would constantly make comments to me when patrolling like "It's strange how this all panned out, huh. You were the top of the class and I was just training in the shadows. And then suddenly I was capturing and sending people to where you were living with your boyfriend." I would then answer with "Do you know what's strange? How after everything Sirius and I went through, we still loved eachother unconditionally, and you haven't been on a date in ten years."
That would shut her up.
"I just want to patrol on my own, you know." I sighed. "Without all of these qualified idiots."
"I completely agree." Remus nodded, rolling his eyes.
"Hey." Martha snapped, wanding around with her wand. "Get up. You're not getting paid to sit around."
"We're not getting paid." I snapped, standing up. "We're doing this out of the kindness of our hearts."
Ron, Ginny and Neville were suddenly sprinting towards us, coughing and spluttering. My stomach turned.
"What's wrong?" Remus and I chorused. I grabbed Ron's shoulder lightly as he caught his breath.
"The Death Eaters." He breathed, looking extremely pale. "They've got in. They're looking for Dumbledore."
"And heading this way!" Ginny added, who looked as pale as a piece of blank paper.
"Oh god." I sighed. Now was not the time to panic. I was the adult here. "Right, you three." They all nodded. "Wands at the ready. Warn any order member."
"And that's only order members." Remus added sternly. They all nodded again. "Where's the others?" Remus asked before they left.
"Hermione and Luna are just coming." Neville said.
"What about Harry?" Remus and I asked together.
"He's with Dumbledore." Ron told us apologetically, running off with is sister and Neville.
Remus and I both looked at eachother. I felt like I was going to be sick. Harry was in danger. Yet again. We didn't have long to think.
"Crucio!" I heard a derranged, shiveringly familiar voice shreik. Bellatrix Lestrange. The girl who killed Sirius.
Now was the time to panic.
Martha collapsed into jerks and spasms on the floor, screaming her head off. I whipped around to face her and the other death eaters. It surprised me that Draco Malfoy, a student, was among them in such an important mission. I expected them to duel, but instead, she looked at me. Bellatrix.
"Look who's here." She cackled, stumbling towards me. "My fellow prison mate." She giggled wickedly.
"Draco," I said coldly, looking at him sternly. He looked like he was about to throw up, or cry. "Shouldn't you be in bed?"
"Shut up." He snapped. I smiled wickedly.
"Don't try and patronise me." I whispered to him. "You just literally scrapped an OWL. I know way more spells than you. You don't scare me."
"Shut up." He repeated.
"The good thing is," Remus interrupted. "is that even if we did shut up, we could still cast spells."
"STUPEFY!!" We shouted together. Bellatrix and the others screamed, and they bursted into battle. Other order members came in after a while, leaping into battle. Dumbledore's Army also fought with us. Nobody approved, but we didn't have the time, power or stupidnes to stop them.
Slowly, we maneuvered our way to the Astronomy tower accidently. I didn't think anything of it, because for one, I didn't know Dumbledore and Harry were there. And two, because I didn't know we were leading them rigth to where they wanted to be.
I saw Dumbledore's corpse plummet to the ground from the huge height of the Astronomy Tower. My heart almost stopped. It was in my mouth. The light of the green dark mark shining above us towered over Dumbledore as he crashed onto the ground. Dead.
Waterfalls ran down my eyes, and I let out a loud sob into the night. Even the death eaters stopped to watch, but with a different emotion. A happy one.
"For Dumbledore." I heard someone say. I turned around and saw that it was Neville. He stuck his wand up high in the air.
"For Dumbledore." Hermione repeated, sticking her own wand in the air, sniffing.
"For Dumbledore." Remus repeated, doing the same.
"For Dumbledore." I joined, sticking my wand up. One by one, the order and the army stuck their wands high in the air. "For Dumbledore." We all chorused, and we bursted into battle again, this time with a lot more rage and violence. We took loads of Death Eaters out, as far as I knew.
I was dueling one of the Carrows when I saw Harry fly by, and I got completely distracted. He's alive, I thought happily. My godson is alive.
The last thing I thought before I felt a painful gash in my neck, and I collapsed.
"I'm happy for you." I smiled weakly at Remus and Tonks, as they sat next to me at the hospital wing. They had finally revealed their love fro eachother. I generally was happy for them.
"Thanks." Remus smiled, holding my hand. "But now isn't the time to be happy."
"I know." I sighed. I shifted a bit and groaned at the pain in my neck. The grotesque scar would never go away. But to be honest, I didn't really care about looks anymore.
I wiped some blood out of my hair.
"Where's Harry?" I mumbled.
"He's gone somewhere with Hermione and Ron." Remus told me. "Don't worry. He's fine."
I sighed and looked at him. "Are you sure?"
