Back to life

Slowly parting my hands from hers, I looked her in the eyes, before turning around and walking off.

I closed my eyes, and when I opened them I was greeted by the same black sky I had grown used to, and also hated.

I needed a minute to comprehend all that had just happened.

I had just gotten attacked by a drone, strangled to near death, almost entered paradise, met a beautiful girl and kissed her, and now I was back here.

That was a lot to process.

Come to think of it, where had the drone gone?

I looked to my side, and sure enough, there it was! But the astonishing thing was that it was completely obliterated, it was completely in pieces.

"How did that happen? Surely I couldn't have done that" I thought, trying my best to find a logical solution. However, I failed to find one.

The sky was the same color as before, but something told me it was much later than before. Not really thinking much on it, and also in attempt to get off the roof quickly, I opened the door.

"Wait, wasn't this door locked before?" I mumbled to myself.

Very suspicious indeed

I thought of asking the others, but I immediately scrapped that idea. The one who locked the door was no doubt one of them. Inquiring about this would just alert the culprit, and give others something to worry about.

I was going to find this person myself.

But for now though, I just wanted to get settled in to my new environment.

Though I had to be extra alert from now on...

With these thoughts stuck in my head, I entered the code to the room and went in quietly. There was no need to though, as the others were awake.

"Hey Nico!" greeted Michael, "I was starting to get worried about where you were!"

"I was on the roof" I answered simply, not really wanting to talk about it.

"Look out?" questioned Michael.

"Yeah, look out" I replied, faking a smile so that he wouldn't ask me anything more.

He seemed to get the message, and didn't ask me anything more as I greeted the others and sat down on one of the mattresses.

And there we all sat in silence, as if my presence had caused some sort of unrest in the room.

"So" I began, trying to break the silence, "What's for breakfast?"

"Tinned food" replied Carl unenthusiastically.

"You serious?" I asked in surprise.

"Yep" he replied.

Oh god, the food situation was even worse than the environment.

"Alright then" I said, trying to sound at least a little enthusiastic. "Let's go eat then, shall we?"

"Good idea!" agreed Sam and Alex.

"Let's go then" spoke James. "I'm famished."

"We can discuss the plans for today over some breakfast then" smiled Michael, as he got up from his sitting place.

We all followed him to a little room which I had not noticed before, and I can see why I hadn't. It was super small, like a kitchen and a dining room combined, with a small table in the middle and a fridge stuck in the corner of the room.

We all sat down at the table while Michael and James got the tin cans out from the fridge and handed them over to us.

I was also handed a tin opener, and when I opened the tin I passed on the tin opener to the others.

Soon enough, we were all eating our breakfast.

My tin had salmon in it, and it tasted like garbage. I was tempted to complain, but when I saw everyone's faces I could tell that they weren't having the most pleasant experience either.

I managed to finish it though, but when I did I couldn't tell if my stomach was any less empty than before, the food was plain terrible.

I definitely wasn't going to eat again anytime soon.

"Hey Michael?" I asked, nudging him. "What are the plans for today?"

"Oh yeah! I almost forgot, thanks Nico" he replied energetically.

"The plans for today are.."
