"And now, a medley of rock songs by the one and only Y/N Y/L/N!" The over-enthusiastic announcer said my name, and it sent shivers down my spine.

This is it;it's now or never. A chance for your big break.

I stepped out onto the stage and grinned as my eyes skimmed the humongous crowd. At least 5,000 people had gathered here, and I was finally the one on stage, rather than a member of the crowd. I looked to my left and nodded, cueing the tech dude to play the tracks. I smoothed out my shirt and began singing to the first song:

Time, it needs time
To win back your love again.
I will be there,
I will be there.

The crowd screamed and cheered, and I relaxed a little once I knew I had their approval. I swayed my body a little with the music, and channeled a little more energy as the song transitioned to a more upbeat one.

People try to take my soul away
But I don't hear the rap that they all say
They try to tell us we don't belong
That's all right, we're millions strong

This is my music, it makes me proud,
These are my people and this is my crowd!

These are crazy crazy crazy crazy nights!
These are crazy crazy crazy crazy nights!

It felt so unreal to have this group of people, these strangers I'd never met, who were singing along with me. My heart and soul was paired with theirs', and it was one of the most rewarding things I ever felt.

The song transitioned once again, to one of my favourite songs.

Take me down to the Paradise City
Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty
Oh, won't you please take me home?

Just an urchin livin' under the street, I'm a
Hard case that's tough to beat, I'm your
Charity case so buy me somethin' to eat
I'll pay you at another time
Take it to the end o' the line!

I danced to the beat and met the eyes of a man in the audience, who had a small grin on his face. I didn't get a close look, but something about him told me I knew him. When the song transitioned for the final time, the crowd screamed, and this was the one I knew I couldn't fuck up.

Buddy, you're a boy
Make a big noise
Playin' in the streets
Gonna be a big man someday
You got mud on your face
Big disgrace
Kickin' your can all over the place, singin'

We will, we will rock you!
We will, we will rock you!

The stampede of "boom boom clap" rung out through the giant theater. This was why I wanted to do these performances. The unity and love for music and between people. Tears brimmed my eyes as I continued singing through to the end of the song. The crowd actually liked me?

They clapped louder than I could ever have imagined, and there were whistles and screams and cheers. I thanked them repetitively and walked off the stage, heading outside for some fresh air.

"You were really good up there." A voice said to me as I leaned against the wall, causing me to startle a little.

"Thanks, um-"

"Izzy. Izzy Stradlin."

"Hey, you have the same name as one of my favourite musicians." I said, and then froze as I locked eyes with him.

"Really? Well, what do I need to do to become your favourite?" He asked, with a smirk on his face.

"Oh, God, what am I like? Y/N Y/L/N, great to meet you, Mr Stradlin." I offered my hand and he shook it, laughing a little as he did so.
