also gnr came on the radio when i was writing this chapter so i was pretty fucking h a p p y

i'm gonna try using perspective shifts in this chapter so let me know what you think!!!

anyway here goes: a special halloween oneshot!! i'll do maybe 2 or 3 of these with different people 💖💖

Y/N'S PERSPECTIVE:

"This is a dumb question, but are you doing Halloween this year?"

"Y/N, I haven't done Halloween in the 26 years that we've known each other."

"Lie. Your mom dressed you up as a pumpkin for your first Halloween, and you were a vampire on your second halloween. I have pictures to prove it. So there."

"I meant, I've never done it by choice."

"Well fine. At least come stay with me at the apartment. I'm all alone all year anyways, and Halloween scares me so I don't wanna be alone."

"If you wanted me there, all ya had to do was ask." He laughed down the phone.

"Big ego much?"

"You love it."

"Tonight at 6-30?"

"Sounds like a plan, Stan."

"Don't ever say that to me again or I'll punch you so hard in the jaw that you won't need to buy any fake blood."

"I'm so scared. Seriously." He fake-cried and I laughed.

"Shut up. I'll see you later?"

"You can count on it."

As soon as I put the phone down, I ran to the kitchen and put the oven on. God only knows what I was gonna cook. After much debate, cookies and brownies were the only thing I was gonna do.

"Shit!"

Well, it was just brownies now, because the cookies were on the floor. I took a deep breath, composed myself, and started cleaning the mess.

No stress today. You have to tell him.

I decided that Halloween was finally the night I was gonna tell Rachel how I felt.

That I was completely, totally, utterly, incomprehensibly in love with him.

"You can do this." I said out loud, as I put the ruined cookies in the bin.

I took myself through to my bedroom, debating whether I should make an effort or just slap some face paint on and be done with it. Eventually, I chose to wear some makeup rather than face paint, as I didn't think Rachel would be too amused by a vampire confessing eternal love to him.

Eventually, I decided that I looked acceptable; I'd adorned my face with a red eyeshadow, some gin-flavoured lip balm (AUTHOR RECOMMENDS) and a pink-toned highlighter. I didn't want to overdo it since I didn't normally wear a lot of makeup and Rachel would suspect something if I changed my look.

"You can do this." I told myself again.

A buzz on the intercom ruined my train of thought. I dashed through to the hallway to answer it, my breath hitching in my throat when I heard the chirpy "hello!"

"Rach, aren't you, like, 2 hours early?"
"Well, yes, but I was bored and I figured you might wanna order in a pizza or something?"
"Yeah, sounds great. Come on up." I said reluctantly.
