For IvyDex1 (I'm sorry it took so long!)
"Lover boy's here!" My older brother Jay shouted from the bottom of the stairs.
"Shut it, Jay!" I hissed, pushing the back onto my earring and grabbing a jacket and a purse.
"He'll hear you!" I cussed him out as I ran down the stairs, shooing him into the living room before I opened the door to Nikki."Lover boy, at your service." He winked and laughed, as I felt my face go red.
"I'm sorry, it was just my brother. He was being dumb." I apologised, meeting Nikki's gaze and smiling nervously.
"You look so beautiful, y/n." He crooned, placing a soft kiss on my jawline as he took my hand in his."Ew, gross!" My younger brother Max stood at the foot of the stairs, sticking his tongue out at me and Nikki.
"Oh, Max, what are you doing down here?" I laughed, picking him up and bringing him to the door. "Nikki, this is Max."
"Hi there little buddy, how you doin'?" Nikki said softly, making Max laugh and turn away shyly.
"Aw, you didn't get shy, did you Max?" I asked, smiling down at him.
"And how old are you, Max?" Nikki asked, as Max turned to face him again. He stuck out his hand with four fingers out, and I laughed.
"One too many fingers there, pal." I laughed, setting Max down on the floor.
"Wow, you're a whole three years old? You're all grown up then, huh?" Nikki laughed gently, talking in nonsense to Max to try and make him laugh.
I admired how good he was with kids. Sure, this was only our first date, but I wasn't dating to break up. And stuff like this helps- you can tell a lot about a guy.
And I could tell that Nikki was a sweetheart.
"Alrighty then Max, let's get you up to bed, huh?" I asked, picking him up to take him upstairs.
"No! Wanna see Nikki!" He frowned, trying to crawl out of my arms.
"I have an idea, why doesn't Nikki come over again tomorrow? You can see him tomorrow if you go to bed like a good boy." I bribed, eventually convincing Max to go back in his bed."Sorry Nikki, I'll be one second." I apologised, as I went back into the living room to say goodbye to Jay.
"I put Max in bed again, and Mom said she'll be back at 11 or something like that."
"Be careful, little sis.""Alrighty, I'm all set." I smiled, stepping out of the door and blushing as Nikki took my hand in his.
"Where exactly is it we're going, by the way?" I asked as I buckled my seatbelt. Nikki turned to me and smiled, winking.
"I'm not telling you."
"Are you gonna kill me?"
"Maybe."
"Nikki!"
"Kidding, kidding." He laughed, starting up the pickup truck, "It's just that it's our first date and I want it to be special, y'know?"
I nodded and smiled, turning my attention to the road.
"Alright."The comfortable silence in the truck added to the gentle and sentimental atmosphere that was already there. I imagined us as two teenage loves, the sort of thing you'd read about in a teen magazine or a fiction book, and I smiled at the thought of what might be ahead that night.
"What're you smiling at?" Nikki asked softly, placing his hand tentatively on my leg. I put my hand on his and shrugged.
"Nothing."
He nodded in acknowledgement, keeping his eyes on the road as we drove through the dark, nothing but headlights illuminating the way. The issue with living out in the countryside was the lack of streetlamps which made it so difficult to drive in the dark. Before I knew it, Nikki had stopped the truck.
"Alright, let's go." He smiled, getting out of the truck. There wasn't any sign of buildings around, let alone any other people.
"Are you sure you're not gonna kill me?" I asked, half-jokingly, half-seriously as I got out of the truck and found my way to the path.
"Just trust me, alright? Go get in the back of the pickup." He said, rummaging around in the storage compartment in the front of the pickup. I did as he said, trying my best to climb into the truck without slipping or getting myself covered with mud.A soft blanket was laid out in the back, with a few small crates here and there. I smiled to myself and sat down, waiting for Nikki to accompany me.
"This is so cute." I hummed as Nikki sat next to me, a plastic bag in his hand.
"It's about to get better." He winked, taking a candle from the bag and setting it on a crate he had pulled between us. I watched the reflection of the match in his eyes, savouring how they brought out the honey undertones. He blew it out, dropping it into a puddle next to his truck."You thirsty?" He asked, reaching into the bag again and pulling out two cans of Fanta.
"A little." I answered, taking the can he offered to me, "Fanta's my favourite."
"I know. I remembered you saying." He said nonchalantly, taking a sip from his own drink.
"You remembered that?" I asked, smiling to myself as he looked up.
"Of course."
Nikki reached over the crate, taking my hand in his, and we sat quietly in each other's presence for a few moments before he spoke up again.
"You ready for the main event?"
I nodded excitedly, as Nikki blew out the candle and pushed the crate to the side."Come lay with me." He offered, one arm outstretched as he lay flat on his back. I felt myself going slightly red and lay down tentatively, resting my head on his arm.
"Now look up there." He pointed at the sky with his other hand, gesturing to all of the constellations. I shuffled closer to him, following each and every star as Nikki pointed to them.

"I didn't know you were such a romantic." I murmured, burying my face into the crook of his neck as he ran his fingers through my hair.
"Usually I'm not. But I guess I realised that you're a girl who deserves the best."I hope you enjoyed!! 💖
