Y/n's Perspective

I watched excitedly from backstage, admiring the way Duff played. He got so...into it. He'd occasionally shoot me a wink, or hold a gaze with me, but just for a second, and then he'd go back to playing.

"Y/n, we need you back here. Concert's almost over." One of security shouted, and I nodded.

"I'm coming!"

Reluctantly, I headed back to Duff's dressing room, sitting rather impatiently on one of the stools. The stereo was playing, goodness knows what. Some low-budget station trying to do the best it could, by the sounds of it.

"Hey, sugar." Duff spoke quietly as he walked in, a towel round his waist and one round his shoulders.

"Duff, what's wrong sweetheart?"
"Nothin'. It's just...I think somethin's up with Slash. He wasn't too happy tonight."
"I mean- I can talk to him, if you like."
"That's sweet, sugar, but you barely know any of the boys."
"Then now's as good a time as any."

Duff planted a kiss on the top of my head, and I walked out, searching for Slash's dressing room among the mess backstage.

Eventually finding it, I knocked on the door and took a deep breath.

Do not fuck this up.

After a few seconds, Slash opened the door, Jack Daniels in one hand and a cigarette in his mouth.

"Oh. Y/n. That's...a surprise."
"Hi, um...Duff mentioned that you seemed a little upset and I wanted to check you were alright." I met his hard, cold gaze and smiled.

"Duff said that, huh?"
"Yup."
"Oh."
"Well, are you? Alright, I mean." I stumbled over the words, trying my best not to panic.

I didn't expect him to be this hostile.

His face softened, and he nodded.

"Just an off-day, y'know?"
"Anythin' you wanna talk about?"

Duff's Perspective

This wasn't like her. She was never away from me for this long. It was, what, 20 minutes now?

I decided to find her- it wasn't that I didn't trust Slash, just that he was...off. And I didn't know what kind of attitude he would have. I found myself jogging there, rather than walking, and couldn't help feeling a slight twinge of worry. Yes, I felt guilty about thinking that my best friend might do something, but you just don't know if he's in such a bad mood.

I took a deep breath as I opened his dressing room door...and smiled.

"...So it's just really difficult. I mean, you're a girl. What do you think?"
"I think you should shoot your shot. She really sounds like she likes you, Slash."

I closed the door and went back to my dressing room.

God, how did I get so lucky?

Y/n's Perspective:

"You're welcome, Slash. Anytime you need a hand." I bubbled, going back to Duff's dressing room.

"He's okay now." I smiled, taking a seat.

"I saw. You're a darlin', you know that?"
"I do try."
"You don't have to try, you're an angel." He praised, running his thumb across my cheek. He kneeled down, meeting my gaze, and smiled. Leaning forward, I connected our lips, and felt Duff smile into the kiss. His hands found their way into my hair, and I melted into his touch.

"I love you, Duff." I breathed, burying my face into the crook of his neck.

"I love you too, darlin'."
