Luxxi and Noxa returned inside me as I carefully ensured that my gloves were securely over my hands. I bade Undertaker goodbye after he decided that his fair-trade of the deal was over and done with.
Good. Don't have to waste your breath explaining for the millionth time to the same person, Noxa told me, bored.
Following my steps by muscle memory, I walked from the common streets to the proud and pristine Phantomhive Manor. As I've seen it so many times before, the walls were large and imposing, land stretching far, and gardens that promised daily care. Faintly, death drenched the manor, but I was too used to that feeling to care.
I knocked on the great double doors. Mey-Rin was the one who opened them, peeking her head out curiously.
"Y-yes, what is it that you want, madam?"
"The Head is away right now, correct?"
"Er, yes, ma'am. Sorry, ma'am. Is there something I can help you with?" She looked really nervous.
"If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to wait for him inside. I've scheduled a sort of meet-up with him."
Ugh, she's gonna ask so many questions.
"O-oh, I wasn't aware of any guests. Please come in then, yes!" She opened the door wider for me to enter. "Would you like any tea?"
I remembered accepting her offer to make tea for me once. The burn on my lap stung for weeks, and I couldn't get the taste of garden leaves off my palate without Sebastian's help. "No, thank you. I'm not thirsty."
"R-right then." She opened the door to the drawing room. "This is the drawing room, yes it is. Please wait in here until the Lord comes back!" In an uncanny rush, Mey-Rin ran out the room.
What will we do while we wait? What will you do when they return from Viscount Druitt's?
"I'll just explain things to them as I always have. As to what we will be doing during our wait, well, I think I see a chessboard over there."
I'm no good at chess, dear.
But I am. And the little brat knows it too.
"Well, it's not like there's anything better to do! Unless you want to wrestle with Pluto or something."
They haven't met Pluto yet. We might not even get to meet Pluto in this timeline!
You never know. Ash does exist in this world, so Angela must as well.
Hmph. Not that I like that hellhound anyways. Annoying dog.
He was a dragon that one timeline.
That didn't help us, did it?!
"Luxxi, Noxa, time shift!"
WHAT?!
"I'm getting bored and you two arguing is giving me a headache, so let's just time shift to when Sebastian and Ciel comes back."
I suppose that's reasonable.
Fine. If it will mean me avoiding a chess game.
"Then it's decided! Let's go."
