Sebastian was holding himself back from throwing more forks at Angela.

"Hand her over and I might consider letting you go," Angela said arrogantly.

"She's only a puny human," Grell grumbled. "If you want her, take her. No one cares." He waved a dismissive hand.

"On the contrary, Sutcliffe, she's very important. Though, true, she is technically a human, she has something that others don't. Or rather, lacks something." William adjusted his glasses again, staring at me emotionlessly.

"Lacks something?" Sebastian questioned.

I looked down nervously. "I don't really... have a record."

Grell froze mid-yawn. "Wait, what?! A human without a record? That's impossible!" He took one of his scissors and slashed my arm.

"Ouch!" I cried. Black wisps seeped out and coiled around the cut. Although there was still beads of blood, no cinematic record even hinted at existing.

Angela watched, amused. "You seem taken with her, demon."

Sebastian's eyes darted back up to her.

"Have you, perhaps, taken an interest in her capabilities? Or... are you more interested in... intimacy?" She had a smug smirk stretching her face.

"Look!" Grell suddenly shouted, pointing at Ciel. "He's reeling his records all by himself!"

Luxxi appeared in a burst of light from nowhere, leaping at Angela with fangs readied to bite. She narrowly dodged, striking back with sharpened feathers. Luxxi didn't seem affected at all by the feathers stabbing into his back. He merely growled and leapt again.

"Foul beasts!" Angela screeched, kicking him away. "Suffer! You unclean thing!" She impaled him with a dozen more feathers, glowing with "holy" light. When she saw Sebastian with Ciel, she scoffed and disappeared, power radiating from her and traveling into the library itself.

"We're trapped," William said.

I ran to Luxxi's fallen body. "Are you okay?"

"It barely hurts," he said, chuckling.

Noxa appeared, tail swaying in annoyance. "You're on the ground. Don't act so tough."

"I wasted a lot of energy," he mumbled. "I'm just tired. Not weak."

In all the commotion, I had forgotten that Undertaker appeared. But that wasn't my concern. I was more worried over the fact that we were locked in the records library. But then, I did know that we were going to escape. If all went accordingly.

I left Noxa to pull the feathers out of Luxxi. Sebastian had a fascinated expression when he saw me.

"You don't have a record?"

I shook my head.

"Don't you have a soul? Aren't you a human vessel?" Ciel asked.

Undertaker giggled. "She must have misplaced it. On purpose."

I reached into my shirt and pulled out the pendant. Its glassy surface flashed. "Smart as always, Undertaker."

"You put your soul into a necklace?" Ciel asked, incredulous.

"I wouldn't be the first to tamper with souls." I glanced at Undertaker knowingly then to Sebastian. "But I wasn't really the one to do this. I didn't really have a choice."

"You always have a choice," Luxxi said, slinking through between our legs. "Time, in its infinite reign, always gives room for choices." He sat, tail curling. "True, you were not the hand that forged the necklace. But you were the voice that allowed it."

"Gee, don't scare the kids away with that kind of medieval talk, Lux," Noxa said sarcastically, dropping a book familiar to me at Undertaker's feet. "Bookmark it and change it. Quickly. Lest you want the angel to win."

Undertaker looked at her curiously before picking up the book.
