I had to stay in the manor to recover while Ciel and Sebastian went on another task for the Queen. My wounds were mostly healed, but the bigger fractures and cuts were still a bother. Luxxi was content to stay to eat to his heart's desire while Noxa happily slept, hardly ever talking.
But I was idle and bored.
The three servants were usually busy, managing what little they could around the house. Tanaka couldn't be talked to either. His responses were too vague. And Pluto hated me. He absolutely despised me and especially Luxxi. Sometimes, they'd pass each other outside and growl viciously at one another.
So the mansion stood quiet with nothing to do but wander the long halls and trying to cook or bake. Sebastian once taught her to cook and bake in a timeline she had chosen to become a maid for Ciel. She even knew the secret to baking Undertaker's bone cookies.
"Miss (y/n)? Are you alright?" Bard asked, peeking around the doorframe of the kitchen door with the others.
I turned to them, whisk still in hand. "Hm? Yes, of course. Why wouldn't I be?"
"You just seem so bored, Miss," Finny chimed in.
"Must be lonely not going out, yes you must," Mey-Rin agreed.
I gave a disbelieving smile. "Really? It's only been a few days. I'm not that--"
The door suddenly bursted open, letting in two Indian-looking men. One looked overly cheery while the other with a bandaged hand stood in polite peace.
Soma and Agni, Luxxi mumbled in my head.
"Wh-who are you?!" Mey-Rin scrambled into the kitchen with Bard and Finny. She looked as though she didn't know if she should draw guns or not.
"Friend or foe!" Bard yelled, scaring Finny.
I sighed and facepalmed.
"I am a friend of Ciel's! I heard this was his residence?" Soma asked.
"Er, well, yes, sir. But we weren't expecting any guests besides (y/n) here." Mey-Rin scratched her head sheepishly.
"Just deal with them as any normal guest," I said, walking away.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Bard demanded.
"My room. All this noise is giving me a headache."
You sound like Ciel, Luxxi giggled.
"Oi! You can't just leave us to deal with this!" Bard called.
"Actually, I can. I'm also a guest here, remember?" I shot him a sly grin. "Best of luck to you, chef."
I slept for hours. Or at least, I had planned to. But Soma wasn't quiet and the servant trio were frantic. I suspected Agni was giving them small lessons on serving. None of my concern, really. If only they'd shut up for longer than two seconds!
"Missing your Sebastian?" Luxxi asked through a mouthful of pudding.
Noxa decided to nap on my bed in a corporeal form. She was snoring lightly.
"When he comes back, he'll investigate Agni's whereabouts and be forced to enter a cookie contest," I said.
"Wasn't it beef?"
"No, idiots. It's curry." She rolled over and curled into herself.
I tugged on my sleeping gown. "My point is, Sebastian will be busy and we have our own work to do. I'm certain Angela and Ash know we're here when we aren't supposed to be. Even the reapers will as well, though I doubt they will care too much. They can't interfere with life, only death."
"So?"
"So we need to keep an eye out! Not only are they gunning for Ciel but me too. We need to see this through to the end. And maybe, finally, I can get a happy ending." I frowned at the small window above my bed.
Luxxi swallowed his bite of pudding and looked up at me with a darkened expression. Noxa peeked her eyes open, seemingly pitying me.
A crash came from outside, accompanied by a panicked scream. I groaned and threw myself into bed. "Please come home already, Sebastian."
