"Structural basis in the time frames of timelines bend sometimes to the choices made constantly by things and people. Such unpredictable, uncontrollable results of the matter can be exploited with enough experienced foresight. Granted, the butterfly effect be taken seriously with extremest caution."
A warm tingle slithered down my spine. Luxxi felt it too, stopping his lecture. The feeling was strong enough to make Noxa open both her eyes. We knew exactly whose presence caused that feeling.
"Go on." Noxa stood and stretched her wings. "Check it out. This must be important."
Symbols glowing, I pulled on my gloves and rushed out my room. I followed the feeling, hairs on the back of my neck standing up as I grew closer. With more force than necessary, I pushed open the door.
"Lady (Y/N)," Ciel greeted blandly, almost startled by my entrance.
Ash and Sebastian both turned to face me. Pluto, who was barking from the window, growled at the sight of me.
"Lady... (Y/N)?" Ash asked with a smile.
"A guest of mine," Ciel replied nonchalantly.
"Pray tell, what was our little fox doing coming here?" His purple eyes bored into me. "Such a specific room to be suddenly crashing into."
"I was looking for Sebastian," I lied, retaining a cold expression. "But seeing as he is busy, I will ask of him later."
Ash looked over me, gaze lingering over my chest for a second too long. He flashed me another smile and turned to Ciel. "I believe we're finished, aren't we?"
The Earl nodded curtly.
"I'll be taking my leave then." He gave a slight bow. "No need to show me out."
The carriage jerked and jolted. I paid it no mind, busy lost in thought while staring out the window. I leaned on a gloved hand with a hard scowl as I came across an unpleasant thought.
"You seem quiet," Ciel said slyly.
I snapped out of my thoughts immediately. "Meaning?"
"No chatter, no voice of worry, no warnings." He scoffed. "There may be hope for you yet."
I rolled my eyes. "Ash isn't the most trustworthy. At least, not in most times that I've met him."
"You think he's another demon?"
"Of course not. He's worse."
The carriage stopped smoothly and Sebastian opened the door for us. His own gloved hand felt warm when he helped me down. I couldn't help letting my fingertips lingering for a fraction of a second.
"Undertaker, where are you?" Ciel called after entering.
I just closed the door behind me when a red blur flew into the wall inches beside me. I jumped, black energy sparking around me in defense. Giggling sounded softly from the corner of the room. Grell rubbed his head as he stood up, mumbling about how cruel Sebastian was in a happy daze.
"Forgot that happens in certain timelines," I mumbled to myself.
While Undertaker, stuffed in a huge pot of salt, explained things with Grell to Ciel and Sebastian, I walked around the shop in exploration. I fingered the silvery black pendant hanging down just over my chest. Usually, I kept that hidden beneath my shirt. It was round and flat with carvings on it. The pendant itself was no bigger than a sand dollar, as thick as a twenty-first century American quarter. And the chain holding it around my neck was near unbreakable.
"(Y/N)," Ciel ordered. "We're leaving."
