Shouto had come to the conclusion that he would never have a soulmate. He wasn't one for expressing his emotions often, unless he was around specific people, like Izuku and Stella. They were the only two who had really stuck by him. He had grown romantic feelings for the two, but he didn't know which one he would be tied to for life. Would he even be tied to one of them? He had no idea.
So, he found a solution. Justina had told him how she found her soulmate(s). She gave him the directions to a witch's shop a few blocks down from UA, and gave him a wink saying that the person he's tied to will be perfect for him. She then warned him about something, and those words were stuck in his head for days.
"If your soulmate already loves someone else, or will lose their love for you, the bond will be broken, and you'll be shattered emotionally unless you can find a way to cope or fall in love once more. The Soul Tie rarely calculates lovers wrong, but nothing is perfect. Be aware of that."
Shouto took her words to heart, making sure he was ready before entering the witch's shop. The old lady cranes her head forward to see him enter the store. "Oh, hello, young man!" She smiled, "What are you here for?"
She was oddly cheerful. Maybe she just loved doing what she did.
"I need a Soul Tie."
The lady smiled widely, "Ah! Looking for your one true love, hm? I'll get one for you right now. Tie it to your left pinkie before you go to bed. When you wake up, it'll be attached to your soulmate's pinkie as well!"
She handed him a small, sparkling red string. Shouto held his hand out quietly, nodding at her words. "What do I owe you?"
"It's on the house. As soon as you stepped in, I felt your sorrow. You had a difficult past, I presume?"
Shouto's eyes widened in amazement, "Um— y-yes, I did.." he spoke gently. The old woman decided not to push further as she just smiled at him, "Remember, left pinkie before bed."
He nodded and mumbled a gentle, "Thank you," to the woman. After that, he stepped out of the shop.
When he arrived home, the red-and-white-haired male looked at his left pinkie. 'I suppose it's now or never,' he thought.
He struggled a bit as he tried to tie the small, sparkling string to his pinkie with just one hand, but he managed to tie a messy bow to make it look a little bit neat.
He flexed his pinkie gently, admiring how it looked. He nodded at his work and pulled back the covers of his bed, before climbing in and finding a comfortable sleeping position.

When Shouto awoke, he immediately looked at his left pinkie. The tie was there! The string had grown overnight and it— went through his wall?
Well, it is a magical string, Shouto figured.
He quickly got into comfortable clothing and practically jumped along as he followed the magical and sparkling red string. He decided to prep himself for his soulmate, glancing into the mirror of his bathroom and taking a break from chasing the little string's path. He freshened himself up as he washed his face and ruffled his hair gently. "What if they don't like messy hair?" He asked himself.
'Well, they're my soulmate.. they're bound to like me for me, not by my hair or anything.. right?' he pondered.
He decided it was fine, and continued following the small string until he ended up outside of his own home. The string wiggled a bit, signaling that his soulmate was moving around or walking. He decided he didn't want to wait any more, and activated his right side, providing himself a quick transportation by using his ice to propel himself forward to follow the string.
The string seemed to go into a small store down the street. 'They must be in there,' he thought excitedly. He stopped using his quirk, reaching out with his left hand to dissolve the ice as it melted.
At least the soil would have some nutrients for the plants because of the newfound water.
He approached the crosswalk and waited for the little man to pop up, showing he could walk. It ended up taking a little while as a few other people approached, wanting to walk across as well.
"You're the boy who fought against Bakugou in the Festival, right? We're big fans," one of them spoke to him.
Shouto turned around and bowed modestly, "Ah. I am glad that I have some.. admirers. I appreciate it deeply." He smiled gently at them, trying his best to stay patient, when all he wanted to do was run through the street and see his soulmate.
"Could we get your autograph, sir?" Another one asked him.
Shouto contemplated for a bit, "No. I apologize, but I am in a bit of a rush, and—"
"He has a Soul Tie," another girl glitched through the small crowd of fans. "He's try'na see his soulmate, let him be." She mumbled, sighing as she rubbed her forehead.
Shouto's face flushed. "How did you..?"
"I know the witch who gave it to you," she spoke calmly. "I got my own Soul Tie from her. Problem is, it attached to two idiots, and now I'm stuck with em'." She muttered. "Go get your soulmate, tiger." She elbowed him gently.
Shoto nodded determinedly. "Thank you. I appreciate it."
The glitching girl nodded and touched the sign so the signal changed to the walking man. She winked at him, "Go on. They're waitin'." She purred.
Shouto thanked her once more as he dashed across the street, quickly entering the store and looking around. The string went through a small shelf, so he walked around it.
He saw a girl. Smaller than him by a few inches, with kitsune ears and a kitsune tail. The red string was attached to her left pinkie as well.
Shouto nervously cleared his throat. "Ahem.."
The girl's ears perked up as she quickly turned to him. She locked eyes with him for a second, and her face became a deep red. "Oh— hello.." her eyes then raked down his body, moving from his face, jaw, neck, chest, and finally, his left hand.
"..you're the one who did this?"
"Yes.. apologies, I didn't know it would lead me to you, Stella."
Stella just gave him a gentle smile. "It's fine, really. I was kind of hoping it was you when I first saw it appear."
Shouto wasn't sure if he heard that right, but he just nodded nervously.
"Would you.. would you be interested in watching a movie with me some time? You aren't obligated to, of course, I just—"
"I would love to."
