She didn't know why she was here in the clutches of the devil. Why would he have sent a vampire after her? She hasn't done anything to deserve this torture. Not to mention it, the vampire sent to her wasn't very polite.
Her friend even got her own "personal vampire" as she called it. Justina, ever so stupid, decided that she found the vampire to be a friend. Stella tried that approach, but it only aggravated the vampire more.
"I don't even want to be here. You don't want me here and neither do I, but I have to."
"Why?"
"I can't tell you that, you incompetent mortal."
That was the conversation they had before Stella had snapped and told him to get out of her life before she lost it. Apparently that was the key to getting him to stop insulting her, and he left the room.
She called Justina.
The witch appeared, her orange hat slightly dull as the charms attached to it jingled.
You see — the two of them were witches. Wild ones, in fact. Abandoned by previous friends and family, they stuck together to stay safe.
"So~ your vampire's being an ass again, I assume?"
"..it sucks that you already know why I called."
"Oh trust me, Jungkook was like that when he first came to me! I felt a little bad, heh, but we're on decent terms now!! I got him to not bite my finger while trying to feed him!"
"I haven't made any progress.. god, why are we supposed to take care of seven demonic beings?! And how come you got two and I only got one?"
"Probably because I'm someone who trusts easily, I dunno. I'm still not even sure how I haven't failed our witch classes yet."
"..honestly, so am I."
And that's how she got to the present, where she is currently suffering because the vampire in her home had gotten upset.
"You keep ignoring me for your imbecile of a witch friend! Why?! What can she do that I can't, huh?"
Stella scoffed at the tantrum the vampire was throwing. "She can clearly speak to me with some respect, unlike you."
"I only talk like this because I don't know how to speak to you! You never talk to me, how am I supposed to know how to speak to you?!"
Stella went quiet at that. She had been neglecting the vampire that had been put into her life.
"You don't even know my name, witch. How am I supposed to.. supposed to speak to you if I can't address you properly? I'm only angry because I never have the courage to ask, but..
I'm just.. I was dragged out of my home because of your friend's spell. She only meant to take my friend but she took the rest of us. Her magic is reckless and she has no control over it."
Stella's mouth fell shut as she listened to the vampire's struggles. He had just opened up so much to her in such a small amount of time when he had been nothing but cruel and rude to her.
She didn't know whether to sympathize, empathize, or ask Justina to send the vampires back to their rightful homes.
So she stuck with what she knew what to do.
She muttered an ancient spell, summoning a small, friendly crab. It was a light pink color, and it crawled up to the vampire, waddling sideways to stand on his foot.
Defying gravity, the spirit crab climbed up the vampire's body, sending a deep shiver down his spine.
"He likes you," Stella spoke softly.
The vampire stared at her as if she had grown an extra head.
"How can you tell?"
"It's my spirit guide. I summon him when I'm confused or I have a tough choice to make. I think he wants me to help you."
The vampire went quiet this time, looking at the little crab that was now resting in his large, slightly clawed hand.
"..my name is Namjoon."
"Stella."
The witch in training extended her hand to the vampire.
He looked at her and then to the spirit crab. "Uhm. Other hand."
"Oh- my bad."
The two of them shared a small laugh as they shook hands, deciding that they wouldn't have many quarrels from now on.
"So~~ you and that vampire stopped fighting?"
"How the hell do you know?!"
"You started crying about it through text."
"...oh yeah. I forgot about that."
