"I am delighted to welcome my favorite daughter home with open arms." Mr Schnee explained to the board of directors. "She has been missed greatly by myself and the rest of the company."
A nervous greeting and a few claps welcomed Weiss as she bowed her head slowly.
"I'm very glad to be allowed to take up my position again." She said quietly. "I see that being defiant wasn't worth everything I lost, and I'm sorry."
Mr Schnee smiled, a smug expression on his face. "That is wonderful to hear, Weiss. You may leave now."
The woman nodded, silently walking out of the room and waiting just outside.
The meeting continued without her, eventually ending and the board members leaving the busy office space.
"Weiss..?"
The woman look up to see Klein Sieben, an old family friend that she hadn't spoken to for quite some time.
"Hello, Klein." She greeted softly, giving a sad smile.
He frowned over at her. "What happened, love? Why'd you come back?"
"I needed my job." Weiss firmly stated, body tensing up. "Without it, I just didn't have a life."
"I think we both know that isn't true." He replied.
The woman shook her head, turning to walk away. "It was nice to see you, Klein."
"You don't need this, Weiss. I know you were happy..."
She left before he could say anything more, making her way to her father's office.
"Come in." She heard her father call as she knocked softly.
Weiss entered, head low. "I'm ready for whatever you need me to do, father..."
"Good, because you need to go see the other disgrace of a daughter I have." He commented, digging through a desk drawer full of unorganized papers. He pulled out a folder, tossing it on the desk. "This is the renewal contract for our military division. Get her to sign it. She's been refusing ever since you left."
"Yes father..." Weiss whispered, turning and walking from the room.
As she left, she quickly texted Neptune, newly rehired, and told him to book a flight to Atlas.
The blue haired man glared at his phone as he worked on some of his back papers. He hated the feeling in his gut that told him Weiss shouldn't be back, and he hated it even more that he couldn't get in contact with Ruby to figure out what happened.
"Fuck it..." He finally decided when he was done booking the flight.
Neptune stood up and stormed out of the building, getting a taxi over to Ruby's apartment.
"Open the door." He demanded, more annoyed than angry. "Ruby, open the door."
When the apartment did open, it was Yang at the door. "Neptune, now isn't the time..."
"Where's Ruby?" He questioned.
"In bed. Please just... Go home." The blonde pleaded. "Just leave."
Neptune narrowed his eyes, pushing his way pass and storming into the apartment. "Ruby! I need to talk to you!"
"Nep, please don't." Yang tried to convince the man.
He walked into the bedroom, seeing the red haired girl laying with her head on Blake's lap. The pale woman was petting her hair, whispering words of care and love to the small girl, curled up against her.
Neptune blinked, not expecting to see the scene in front of him. "Ruby..?"
"She's... not really in a talking mood." Blake replied quietly.
"What happened to the poor girl..?"
"She went off the radar the other day after a date with Schnee and I figured they'd gone out on some romantic weekend." Yang growled. "But she came back like this, only making it this far because some kid practically dragged her home."
"All of Weiss' stuff was gone when Yang and I arrived." The dark haired woman explained, continuing to pet Ruby's head. "Things aren't so good right now..."
"How long has she been like this?!" Neptune asked, shocked at just how crazy this all sounded.
Blake frowned. "Three days..."
"She made the right choice..." Ruby quietly sobbed, prompting Blake to hug her close again.
The raven haired woman shook her head, tucking Ruby into her shoulder and letting her cry. "Shhhhh... It alright, don't worry. It'll all be ok."
Neptune didn't know what to think. He didn't know what to say. Why was there to say? Weiss left this innocent girl heartbroken and alone and nobody even knows why.
On his way home he texted Weiss, demanding they took time to talk. The ivory haired woman just replied saying she was busy and that the company came first.
The company came first.
The bluenette was practically seething with rage, and the only thought he had was to go right to Schnee Tower and ram a fire hydrant up daddy dearest's ass.
"He'd probably enjoy that..." Neptune muttered as he unlocked his upscale apartment to find Sun sleeping on his couch. "I have a bed, you know. If you needed a nap, just use that."
"Well I don't have a bed..." The blond mumbled, half asleep. "It feels weird..."
"How are you rich? How is that even possible?"
"I don't like money, I like couches."
Neptune shook his head. "You're an idiot."
"I'm your idiot." Sun yawned, eyes still shut as he laid back.
The boy with blue hair rolled his eyes, picking up Sun and bringing him over to the bedroom. He set down his boyfriend on the bed, tucking him in and kissing his head before leaving to make some food after a long day.
