"Ruby, shouldn't we have a plan or something for this?" Yang asked as her sister started to run out the door.
The girl in the red leather jacket stopped and looked back at Yang, a determined expression crossing her face.
"I love her, Yang. I need to get her, and at this point I'm out of time." Ruby said firmly. "I can't sit back and watch this happen without doing anything to stop it just because I wanted a moment to think about it."
The blonde stood for a moment before nodding and gesturing for Ruby to go. She smiled before sprinting out the door and leaving Yang behind.
The brunette ran through the streets, moving faster than she'd have been able to move in a car because of he traffic. And as she got closer to the church, traffic just got worse, more and more expensive cars clogging the road and paths through the city.
At the church, Weiss was watching out the window as celebrities and business tycoons walked in, reporters and journalists taking pictures and fighting for any words they could get.
The woman shook her head, walking away to check herself in the mirror again. The simple white dress was pure silk, only adorned with designs stitched into the sides to show vines and flowers of ivory and ice. It was a beautiful dress, one that she'd love to get married in.
But not here. Not now.
The weather was fair as spring moved into summer and the sky shone with a perfect blue, exaggerated by the breath that blew through the brunettes hair.
Ruby got as close as she could without getting stopped by security. She watched, searching for anything that could help her. And she saw the one person that she needed, her inspiration just slightly in view through the window on the second floor.
That's all she needed. All her sadness, her desperation, her self loathing, it all faded away and left determination in its wake. She needed Weiss and she'd get her back.
A knock came at the door and Mr Schnee walked in, a smile on his lips. Pride. Not in Weiss, but I'm his own achievements and the control that he had over everyone around him.
"You look beautiful, daughter." He greeted. "I'm sure you'll grow to understand how important this all is to our family."
Weiss nodded, not diverting her eyes from the mirror as she watched herself and thought about how this was the end of her life. This was the last moment of freedom she'd have until she was just property to her father and Carden Winchester.
"I expect that you'll be ready when the time comes." Her father told Weiss before he turned to leave.
She let out a breath she nice the door closed, finding the veil and trying it on just as another knock came at the door.
"Come in." She called softly before it opened, Whitley walking in slowly.
The boy seemed almost concerned, but Weiss could never tell. He was always on their father's heel, ready to take a command and do whatever it took to get his praise. He wasn't inherently bad, but he had done a lot for the sake of keeping their father happy.
"I-I'm sorry, Weiss." He stuttered our, the woman's eyes widening in shock.
"What for?" She asked, conflicted over what his goals were in this. "You haven't done anything, have you?"
"I just..." He hesitated. "You don't want to do this... You don't love Mr Winchester."
Weiss smiled gently, sad yet comforting. "I don't... But you're always saying that we should do what we do for the family and the company, right?"
"Not now though! Y-you shouldn't feel like you need to marry a man you don't love for the company, the family, or for father!"
The surprise hit Weiss again, not understanding where this new side of her brother was coming from.
"I just... You seem so sad..."
The woman in white blinked, realizing that even Whitley saw what was happening and thought it was wrong. Everyone knew that this was wrong and yet nobody could do anything about it.
That made her feel even more hopeless.
Ruby climbed on top of a trash can before jumping the fence around the church, running to the back and slipping into one of the open windows to the basement.
She looked around and started making her way down the hall until she found the path upstairs.
Weiss looked out at the crowd. The rich, the famous, the influential. And not a single person that she wanted around her. None of her friends. Very little family. Just her father and Whitley.
"It's time." Mr Schnee told her gently, seeming pleased that he was finally going to be rid of his troublesome daughter.
The pair started walking just after the music started up, the crowd turning to watch as they made their way slowly towards Carden and the minister.
Ruby ran up the stairs and froze as her eyes met with one of the many security guards in the building.
"Miss, I don't think you're supposed to be here." He told her, stepping for and reaching towards her.
Ruby kicked him in the balls and ran.
The vows were exchanged and the minister turned towards the man. "Do you, Carden Winchester, promise to love and protect Weiss with your life and your heart? In life and death, in good times and bad, and in sickness and health, do you promise to always stand by her side?"
"I do." Carden replies with an air of confidence.
"And do you." The minister started, turning to the woman in white. "Weiss Schnee, promise to love and protect Carden with your life and your heart? In life and death, in good times and bad, and in sickness and health, do you promise to always stand by his side?"
Weiss took a shaky breath. "I... I~"
"WAIT!!!"
A short brunette in a red leather jacket jumped past the guard by the front, sprinting forward until she was caught by another one.
"Weiss!! Weiss, you've gotta listen to me!!!"
"Ruby..?"
