Chapter 38

Benny at the top

Bella's POV

"I never stopped, I thought I did but I never stopped loving you" I said looking into his eyes.
"It really is you" he said starting to smile
"When have I ever stopped loving you." I said starting to tear up
"I thought you wouldn't love me anymore since I broke up with you"
"Yes it broke my heart and I was a total mess but I got a boyfriend he loved me but I couldn't, you know why?" I said with tears starting to stream down my face.
"Why?" He said
"Because I couldn't stop loving you Benny, I love you so much, you were my first love and you still are."
"Bella I love you too but" he looked down
"You can't, you have Ella." I said wiping my tears away
"Yeah" He said
"It was amazing seeing you again, I should go, just know that I love you and always will" I said walking away.

Benny's POV

She walked away, I really do love Bella but I have Ella and I don't want to break her heart.
"BELLA PLEASE DONT LEAVE!" I yelled, was that my final goodbye. I walked into my house and punched the wall
"Benny break up with ella, go find bella, a girl like her doesn't come knocking on your door, everyday."
"I know"
"Go Benny"
"Ma i can't break up with ella."
"If you don't then bella will slip out of your hands and she won't come back."
"But What about the guys they won't talk to me or care about me"
"Benny who left you are them"
"Me"
"Well they never said that they hated you, they are just disappointed, and also I don't see you happy with ella. Before when Bella was here your fave always had a smile. Go get bella talk to her, tell her what has been happening in your life, or let her talk to you about her life."

I ran out of the house to the sand lot and she was there sitting in the dugout with the guys she had a smile too.

Bellas POV

I walked to the sandlot with some tears in my eyes but I managed to not fully cry.
I made it to the sandlot and everyone was in there positions.
I ran to home plate to be batter.
"Ready bella"
"Give me all you got"
"Okay"
He threw the ball.
"Strike 1" Ham said
He threw the ball again
"Strike 2" ham yelled
Kenny threw the ball once more
*crack
I hit the ball! I ran to first base
Then second
Then third
Next stop home plate
"I DID IT!!" I yelled
The boys were laughing and cheering, we all walked to the dugout and talked.

"Did you play in Oklahoma?" Yeah yeah said
"Well no" i Said
"So you are telling me that you haven't played baseball in Months" squints said shocked
"I never found anyone that liked baseball or that played"
"Oh" they said
"I forgot to tell you yeah yeah got a girl friend" squints said wiggling his eyebrows
"Really!spill the tea sis"I said really excited
"Well her name is Anna Brown, she is so amazing"yeah yeah explained some more but I zoned out, I thought about Benny and why he didn't love me anymore, was I not love able?
"Bella? Earth too Bella?" Ham said waving his hands in my face
"W-What?" I stuttered
"Did you hear us?" Squints said
"Sorry I didn't, I was thinking and I zoned out" I said a bit embarrassed
"What were you thinking about?" Smalls said
"I was thinking about Benny, and why he didn't love me, am I not love able?" I asked
"Of course you are love able, it's just"Kenny said
"It's just when you left Benny got into some deep shit" Bertram said
"What do you mean?" I said
"Benny got into jail, he started to drink a lot even though he is under age, he did drugs for a bit, he got together with Phillips and started to ruin everyone's life, he also got a girlfriend that is a bitch and she is annoying as fuck, she tells him what to do and is just so annoying, and worst of all he lost everyone he loved, he blocked them out of his life when you left."smalls said
"Poor Benny ruined his life because of me." I said,my eyes started to water
"Bella don't say that, it wasn't your fault, he could of reacted better then that." Timmy said
"I guess" I said wiping my tears away
"Come on there are better things to do, then cry about Benny." Tommy said
"Like what?" I said looking down
"Like telling jokes!" Tommy yelled with happiness
"Okay tell me a joke?" I said cheering up
"People are always telling me to live my dreams.But I don't want to be naked in an exam I haven't revised for." Tommy said
I cracked into laughter
"Here's another one, I thought my neighbours were lovely people. Then they went and put a password on their wi-fi." Tommy said again
"Tommy you always know how to make me laugh." I said laughing
I was having a great time when I see someone in the distance,
"Benny?" I whispered
"Bella get over him he doesn't deserve you." Yeah yeah said
"No, Benny?" I said pointing at Benny walking over to where I was.
"Bella can I talk to you in private" Benny asked
" okay" I awkwardly stood up and walked with Benny.
There was this really awkward silence so I decided to break it
"So where are we going?" I asked
"Well I was heading to the beach, you know when we had our date."
"You remember " I said smiling
"I never forgot Bella, I tried to get rid of the pain. That was when I started being different. I blocked out my friends, became close to Phillips, I got into jail for beating the shit out of Phillips and for stealing, I stopped playing ball with the guys and played sometimes with Phillips, I started drinking, I thought drinking my problems away would work, I did some drugs but only once and I was drunk when I did that, but I only did these things because I couldn't handle all the pain."
"Benny I missed you too but you don't see me getting into trouble. Your family loves and cares so much about you, when I was with Steve and tommy, my heart was almost complete but I needed one more thing, I need someone to love."  I said

We started getting closer to the beach.
"Bella I love you so much, but I was wondering if we could be friends, or would hurt less"
"Benny I love you too but I don't know how to get rid of the feelings I have for you but I will try to move on." I said looking down with tears already coming down my face
"Oh Bella I'm sorry I didn't mean too make you cry" Benny hugged me
"I'm fine I guess I thought that you would feel the same way"
"I do feel the same way, I just think it is easier like this." We broke the hug and I said
"Okay, but put your life back together, start playing baseball with the guys again, apologize to them, and be the Benny that I  know.i have big hopes for you DONT ruin that chance of being a professional baseball player."
"So were cool"
"Yes of course. We should head home, Mr, mertle will be worried if I don't get home soon"
"Mr mertle, the mean guy who has a dog that is called the beast!" Benny said freaking out
"Benny, mr mertle is the kindest old man I know he also played for the Yankees, but he lost his sight so he retired, and his dog Hercules is just over protective, Hercules is the sweetest dog I know. Don't believe everything you hear."
"I know now" he said chucking, the rest of the way home we just talked about random stuff.

We got to Mr. Mertles house And we said our goodbyes .
"Benny come to the sandlot at 8" I said smiling
"I won't miss it" be said walking backwards and smiling back
I waved bye to him and he waved back. I went into the house.
"Bella who was that?" Mr. mertle
"Oh don't worry that is Benny the boy that loves baseball more then life."
"Oh, I've heard about that kid, they call him 'the jet'"
"Yeah, he is an amazing baseball player, I know one day he is going to make it to the big leagues." I said smiling proudly
"Well it's dinner time"
"Okay" I sat down at the table with me mertle and ate some pasta.
"Thank you for the food, I'm going to hit the hay, baseball wasted all my energy. Goodnight, thank you again"
"No problem beautiful Bella, good night, sweet dreams" I headed to my room, and changed into my pjs, I was wearing pony's sweatpants and his cropped hoodie. I missed him, I miss the gang, I really miss Steve and tommy.
I was getting homesick. I crawled into bed and closed my eyes thinking about the gang.....
