Deteriorating

Ruby walked back up the steps into the hospital and she walked into Iain's room. "Iain?" She asked as nurses were manic everywhere Charlie nodded to Duffy "Come on" Said Duffy walking Ruby out of the room "Duffy what's happening to him?" She cried "he went into VF they're going to get him back" she said pushing her hair out of her face "no, no Duffy please" she cried Duffy held Ruby in her arms as Duffy lowered Ruby to the floor in her arms "I promise it's all going to work out just fine" she said rubbing her back. Connie and Dylan rushed past and into his room as Duffy held Ruby to her chest. "Alright" she said holding her close "Alright" she repeated. Connie walked out "what's happening?" Asked Duffy quietly "I don't think there's much we can do, he's back but if that happens again he's gone" she said "it won't happen again, it won't, it can't" Said ruby standing up Ruby walked into the room and Duffy went to go after her "let her go, I've got a feeling she's not going to have much loner with him" she said Duffy sighed "it's going to break her" she said Connie nodded "I know" she said everyone walked out and Ruby sat next to him "you've got to get better Iain, you can't do this to me please" she cried holding his hand "please Iain, I can't do this alone" she cried into his hand. 3 hours later Ruby was asleep with her head on the bed Iain's eyes fluttered open and he moved his hand to push Ruby's hair out of the way she opened her eyes and looked up at him "Iain!" She cried smiling he smiled and she held his hand tightly "I love you too" he said closing his eyes again "Iain?" She asked "Iain?" She said again he opened his eyes again and shifted over on the bed "Come on" he said she lied down next to him and he put his arm around her "if I die, don't grieve over me" he said "how could I not grieve over you I love you" she cried "and I love you" he said just then Jan walked in "oh Iain your awake" she smiled he nodded and closed his eyes and rested his head on Ruby's shoulder "I'll go and tell Connie he's awake" she smiled Ruby nodded and kissed his head "it's going to be alright I promise" she said she could feel him breathing into her neck and she was so thankful for that.
Dylan walked in "he doesn't look awake to me" he said "he was that's why I'm here" she said "he was awake Dylan" Said Jan he nodded "his obs arent very good at the moment but they should improve if he is awake" he said Ruby nodded and rested her head on top of Iain's as Dylan left "he told me he loved me Jan" she cried "that's because he does he loves you so very much" she said Ruby held his hand and pulled the blanket over him "it's going to be alright" she smiled kissing his head Jan smiled at them and then got up "I'm going to get a coffee do you want anything?" She asked "no, I'm fine thank you" she smiled Jan left and only minutes later something started beeping Dylan ran in "stay there Rubes don't move" he said he injected something into Iain's arm and then did some tests, he walked back in 10 minutes later "Ruby" he said sitting in the chair next to her "I don't think he's going to make it the injuries to his body now, his lungs and his heart, and all the pain those tablets have caused him, he's not got a very good chance" he said holding her hand Ruby's eyes filled with tears and she just held him tighter "he's only sleeping if you want to talk to him before he goes give him a shake wake him up but I think he's got 24 hours at the max" he said Ruby just closed her eyes and nodded resting her head against Iain's.
