Panic

Ruby was sitting at home, she was almost 7 months pregnant now and she had stopped working. "I'm going to jump in the shower" she said to Iain he nodded "alright sweet I'll have dinner done"he said she smiled and walked upstairs. She got in the shower, she was stressing she kept getting pains in her back. They had a seat in their shower it was just there when they moved in. Ruby started to breathe faster her heart started racing. She pulled the seat down and sat down "Iain" she said barely audible let alone to him downstairs. She opened the shower door and stepped out slowly kneeling to the floor gasping for air and holding her chest. She picked up the towel and wrapped it around herself she knew she was panicking but she couldn't stop she was completely out of control. It had been almost half an hour and dinner was getting cold. "Ruby!" Iain shouted from the bottom of the stairs she didn't know what to do the world was spinning she barely had a bump she was really tiny and she was kneeling on the floor clasping at her chest. Iain walked up the stairs and knocked on the door "Ruby" he said she couldn't breathe let alone talk she crawled forwards and unlocked the door and Iain pushed the handle down "can I come in?" He asked she couldn't do anything she couldn't breathe it was hot in the bathroom and she was overheating and crying "Ruby your scaring me now!" He said she just cried and he heard he opened the door to Ruby in hysterics on the floor barely breathing. "It's alright, it's alright come on" he said holding the towel against her and picking her up "Iain" she cried "calm down, just breathe" he said sitting her on the bed, he opened the windows to cool her down and held her close "just breathe" he said "your having a panic attack" he said Ruby put her hand to her back and Iain just held her close "I love you, it's going to be alright" he said she wasn't calming down much but her back was hurting and she was hot and panicking. Iain picked up his phone and rang Jan "hello" she said "she's having a panic attack a bad one Jan she can't breathe and her back is hurting her" he almost cried "Iain calm down don't stress her out more, I'll send an ambulance" she said "why?" He asked "because panic attacks can cause miscarriages" she said Iain didn't know what to say "is she bleeding Iain, because if she's on distress so is that baby" she said "Ruby, Ruby sweetheart I know it's hard but stand up for me" he said she stood up slowly holding Iain "she's not bleeding" he said "alright love we're on our way" said Jan he nodded "Ruby Ruby listen to me, look at me" he said she looked at him "deep breath in count to 3" he said she nodded and did as he said "and out count to 3" he said she started breathing better and held her stomach "what's wrong?" He asked "nothing, I'm fine" she said "your hurting aren't you? Ruby don't lie to me, this is our baby" he said she nodded and almost had to stop herself from crying out in pain. "Alright lovely an ambulance is on its way" he said she nodded and just lent forward into his chest "let's get you downstairs make it a bit easier for them" he said she nodded and picked up her pyjamas "Let's have these on" he said "let's keep a bit of dignity" he smiled she nodded "lift your arms up" he said she did as he said and he pulled her T-shirt on "put your feet through these" he said pulling her shorts up "I'm sorry" she almost cried "you have nothing to apologise for" he said "I just want to make you happy" she cried "the only thing upsetting me now is your tears, dry them" he smiled she wiped her eyes and calmed down "here put this on" he said passing her his jumper she pulled it on and hugged him "my back has been hurting for a couple of days" she said "why didn't you tell me" he said pushing her hair out of her face "I was scared" she said "and now your stomach is hurting?" He asked she nodded "cramping" she said "do you think this baby might want to meet us a little bit earlier than expected?" He asked "I hope not" she said looking up at him "ah" she cried "alright sweet" he said holding her hands "alright" he said just then an ambulance pulled up outside "you called an ambulance?" She asked "I called Jan who called for an ambulance" he said she nodded and he held her close "let's get you downstairs" he said she nodded and he helped her up slowly "Iain, Iain" she cried he looked at the bed and noticed the blood on it "don't panic it's alright" he said holding her close "it's alright" he added he helped her back into the bed and opened the door for the paramedics "were going to need a stretcher just get her in quickly she's haemorrhaging and it's possible she's in labour" he said they nodded and took their stuff upstairs "on my count" they said lifting her. They got her in the ambulance and Iain sat down next to her "I'm so so sorry" she cried "this isn't your fault" he said she just held his "don't ever tell yourself this is your fault!" He said she just held his hand and cried "it hurts so much" she cried "it's going to be alright sweetheart it's going to be alright" he said "can I just have a look and see if your still bleeding?" Asked Hannah. The paramedic in the back with them. Ruby nodded "you just turn towards Iain alright lovely" she said Ruby nodded and turned to face Iain on her side Hannah nodded "I'm going to call ahead just to let them know we have one of holbys finest on route" she smiled Ruby lied back down "I've lost it haven't I?" She asked in agony Hannah sat down on the bed "Ruby I'm a little bit concerned that we are 25 minutes away and you look terribly like your in labour" she said "I know you want to tell yourself your not but whilst you are bleeding lightly this baby needs to come out ASAP" she said "I don't want to" she cried "I don't want you to have to either but I'm afraid there is no choice in it" she said Ruby just held Iain's hand and cried he pushed her hair out of her face with the other hand and held her tightly. "Do you feel like you need to push?" Asked Hannah Ruby took a deep breath and nodded "then you push when you want to alright?" She said Ruby shook her head "it's too early" she cried "but if this baby doesn't come into the world soon you might just lose it" she said Ruby was in hysterics "you just do what your body tells you" she said Ruby nodded.
