"You asshat Danvers!" Derek Richards shouts playfully as he chased Carol Danvers across the field of their High School during lunch. They had been best friends since childhood and they were almost inseparable on the schoolyard.
The two were inspired to join the military in some form. Carol was already set on becoming a pilot whilst Derek (due to his personality and skills) was interested in the life of 007.
"You won't catch me this time!" Carol laughed as she leapt over a bar to avoid being caught easier. The two didn't care about the countless looks they were given as the two sprinted by. Derek didn't care at all. They were just having fun.
Many students believed the two were dating and would tease them but they just saw each other as friends. Best friends really. They wouldn't want to ruin that, plus Carol wasn't interested in dating at the time. If anyone tried to make a move on her she'd gladly punch them in the face. Even if that meant getting detention, she would smirk to herself knowing it was worth it. Her mother was the same. She would never get in trouble for getting detention. Her mother would always say something on the lines of: 'that douchebags just wants you for your perfect looks, not your personality.' She wasn't wrong.
Carol was a young beautiful woman that did make students jealous and make her seem popular but she denied it. Every person who asked her out was denied. Instantly. If they had a problem with rejection it ended up normally with a black eye. That was Carol. The badass good girl.
"Give it Carol!" Derek yelled as he used the bar Carol had leaped over to launch himself forward. That gained him the boost Derek needed and was now only a couple meters away. Pushing himself to his limit he sprinted harder and successfully tackled Carol to the floor. "Give it back!" He demanded pinning Carol to the floor.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Carol lies smirking up at her best friend.
"You know what I'm talking about!" Derek scolds sending her a knowing look. "Give it."
"Give what?" Carol asks acting dumbfounded still keeping her smirk on her face.
"The card!" Derek answered even though Carol and Derek both knew what she had taken from him.
"Ohh... that thing..." Carol dramatically replies. "Why should I?"
"It's a collectible!" Derek explained his tone weaker as he tried to get Carol to give it back with guilt.
"A collectible? How old is it?" She asks.
"That Captain America trading card is one of a kind!" Derek whines maintaining eye contact. "I've been wanting to give it to Phil for years but never got the chance. C'mon Carol, please..." Derek begs.
"So. Where's the threat?"
"I'll tell Jason you stole his Skywalker figurines..."
"Damnit." Carol muttered. "Fine." She says sighing in defeat.
"Great." Derek exclaims rolling on his side so they laid side by side. "Gimme." Carol sighed again as she reached into her jacket pocket and handed him the slightly scared Captain America trading card.
"There you go..." Carol glumly says as he took it.
"I finally outsmarted you Danvers." Derek tells Carol smiling widely as he sat up looking sideways towards Carol who followed his movements. "I feel as if I finally got one step ahead from you and your own mischief." Derek continued to only get punched in the arm by Carol harshly. "Hey!"
"What? It was just a nudge." She assures.
"It was not Carol." Derek denied letting out a laugh. "I'm surprised you didn't brake my arm with all that strength." Derek noticed Carol's change in expression which had turned into a guilty look and Derek shook his head. "It's not a bad thing Carol." He assures. "You need to punch those douchebags with that fist." He tells her mocking her mother's tone terribly which made Carol laugh.
