i was having a severe case of déjà vu, except i was nowhere near as on edge as the day before. there i sat in front of my professor, who did nothing but analyse my in-class assignment that i had submitted today.
"you have potential, miss carter." mr hood states. "your work is very well written, advanced for someone your age."
"thank you, sir." i nodded.
"i look forward to seeing your work in my class, miss carter." he nods.
"sir, you can call me noelle, miss carter is too formal for my liking." i mention.
"very well, noelle." he said, my name rolling off his tongue like satin. "i'm glad to see that you took my advice from yesterday."
here we go again.
"listen up hood, and i want you to listen very carefully." i said, my entire demeanour changing. "i'm not going to repeat myself. i have things going on back home that are far more important than my education. so god forbid i have to excuse myself to answer a call, i will do as i see fit, not the other way around. got it?"
"your attitude needs to change, little girl." mr hood says, having stood up and leaned over the front of his desk.
"or what?"
"or you might as well be punished." he spoke slyly. "you are dismissed, miss carter."
"hold on." i say, pulling out my phone to call nora's phone, on speaker. "i'm about to open this door and so help me god you and luke are hovered over it like yesterday, i'll kick both of your asses."
"but elle—"
"luke, so help me god i will get james to bash your eye with his golf club again." i fumed.
"run!"
"and that is what i call a job well done, good day, sir."
"noelle." mr hood spoke up as i began to exit the lecture hall. "those friends of yours don't happen to be a... significant other of yours, do they?"
"oh my god, god no!" i shook my head. "absolutely not."
"not even that james fellow?" he questions.
"you mean my little brother?" i laugh, a crimson-like colour rising to my professor's cheeks. "no, i promise."
"good." he nods. "you are dismissed."

"elle, come on!" nora nudged. "it'll be fun, i promise."
"fine." i gave into her wishes.
nora wanted to go to a party, as did the boys. we never do anything and just exclude one of us unless extremely necessary. so here i am, getting dressed with nora to go to this damn party.
"you look good." nora nods. "if only that professor of ours was—"
"nora, just give it up already." i sighed. "not happening, move on."
"lies!" nora insists, but i'm simply ignoring her now.
the boys came to my dorm within the hour and we were off.none of ashton's friends had invited us to their frat party, and do you honestly believe that my friends of all people would turn and invite like that down, or free booze?
so there we went, and honestly, i really didn't want to be there. i had a couple of drinks, and my tolerance was okay, so i felt fine. as i walked around, i caught sight of luke stood against a wall with a cup in his hand.
"give me half of whatever you're having because i trust you."
"how polite of you." luke rolls his eyes. "i have a way for you to break off this whole bet thing."
"how?" i question all too quickly.
"hook up with anyone else but your professor." luke shrugs. "that guy over there has been checking you out all night. knock our little gang off guard."
"this is so stupid." i sighed. "i'm going outside to get some air. if you don't see me, just know that i went back to my dorm."
