the thing about noelle was that she was different compared to the rest of our friend group. although she isn't as "experienced" in certain departments of life, she's experienced a far too generous share of pain. there are things about noelle that she keeps well hidden from others, things that i am not equiped to speak of, things only she can tell her own tale about.

i was there for her the most out of our friend group, and that's only because i grew up with her. i've watched her face her losses, and i've grieved with her too. any loss of hers would always be a loss of mine. an example that i am equiped to speak of was the loss of her father. liam carter; beloved father, son, husband, sibling, and friend. always a fighter, was taken way too soon.

liam was noelle's best friend. she was daddy's little girl, inseparable, stuck like glue. so when cancer got the best of her father, she totally broke down. after all, she was only fifteen, and i was there to catch her the very moment she fell. i watched her cry along with james and her mother. i held noelle as she cried herself to sleep.

then we met the gang, the crew, our little breakfast club or whatever the hell we are, and slowly noelle began to regain control over her wellbeing. but time and time again, she would break, and it broke my heart to see her break. it was a great feeling to help her heal again, but knowing that she would break again just hurt even more. so when noelle ran out of class again this morning, i knew that she was on the verge of breaking yet again, and it scared the living hell out of me.

"miss delevingne, mister hemmings, please see me after class." mr hood states before he begins his lecture.

"yes sir." both nora and i replied.

i had the feeling this was going to have nothing to do with class whatsoever.

everything comes with a price. television shows make some pretty good points, props to once upon a time for that one. people are going to die, some sooner rather than later. it happens, that's life. not to say it isn't painful, in which it is, but like everything else, it all comes at a price. unfortunately, all of the things in noelle's life came to a cost, breaking her down each and every time.

mr hood asked both luke and i to stay after class. noelle ran out the moment class had begun and never came back. i had the feeling our professor wasn't pleased.

"you're both friends with miss carter, yes?" mr hood questions us.

"yep." i nodded.

"do you happen to know where miss carter may be?" he asks.

university bitches ☕️

noelle: i'm going home, mom and james need me. tell all of my professors!!

noelle: except for english!!

"mister hemmings?" mr hood questions. "is that miss carter messaging you?"

no response.

"mister hemmings—"

"she's going home." he blurts out. "she's in her dorm packing as we speak."

nora: luke already spilled. get packing kiddo, love you <3

"thank you, mr hemmings, you as well miss delevingne." mr hood nods as he grabs his things. "now if you'll excuse me, i have a, uh, staff meeting to attend."

and then there were two.

"he's going to see her, isn't he?" luke sighs.

"yup." i nod. "but let's just wait and see what happens next. i still want my money."
