LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL- LIL PEEP

finding out eventually
the feeling wasn't mutual.

adriana groaned a long, dreadful time before mackenzie smacked her upside the head with her own pillow. "we both are dreading this, now get up." she grumbled and trudged downstairs to breakfast.

one week in advance.

adriana stayed in the near field, watching a boy kick a soccer ball into a goal repeatedly. nadia, nadia turner came strolling down the bleachers to air besides adri, earning a small wave from her. nadia was the first of adri's small group of friends to attract. something about adri's smile pulled nadia in, and kept her there. "watching a soccer boy i presume." nadia hums. adri switches her gaze from the field to her, deadpanning. "sucking darius's face? i presume" adri muttered, nadia laughing in response. the boy ran at full force, swinging his leg into the soccer ball and pretty much sending his body with it. his body slammed into the grass, a loud groan aspirating from his chest. "oh god." nadia dragged out, nudging adri. "is he okay?" she asks, her eyebrows furrowed as always. nadia shrugged and narrowed her eyes to see who. joey birlem. her eyes immediately widened, "why do you two always end up talking or some shit? seriously this is scary." she muttered, still pondering and asking her own questions in her head.

the brunette shrugged. "time for me to see if joseph's okay." she never really had a conversation with him, it was mainly her helping him out of something or just helping in general. a conversation would be nice. adri yanked nadia's wrist and dragged her down the field, her legs quickly carrying her to the tall boys remains. no, he wasn't dead. but, he was injured. it wasn't slow in time for joeys eyes to already be on adri, like always. she headed down to him, while he tried standing up: a pinching pain in his shin. he winced in pain, just as she arrived. a glint of sweat trickled down his temple, down his cheek and into the fabric of his shirt— adri watching in awe. "are you okay?" she bent down onto her knees. nadia, placing her hands on her hips flicked her eyes back and forth the two.

joey let out a barely heard "yeah." again, trying to get up he winced. adri looked back at nadia, who was already looking at her. "go get help." she grunted as by shock to joey, she took his arm and wrapped it around her shoulder. joey pulled his arm away and shook his head. "no i'm fine, seriously." he snapped. adri deadpanned, standing back up. "okay, then stand up." she was witty, and quick with the response. joeys lips dropped into a firm line.
"i will get up when i feel like it." he groaned inaudibly. adri grabbed his arm and pulled him up herself, just as he slung his head back and closed his eyes. "adriana." he groaned.

eyes wide, she continued to carry him across the field back into the school hallways. "how the hell do you know my name." she said through her teeth. joey glanced down at her, appreciating the small talk— or conversation but keeping that sentence to himself. "you were drunk, and your blonde friend said your name at the party." he mumbled. adriana sighed relievedly, she thought he was a stalking psycho. still could be. whilst walking in the hallways, the two earned stares. not because one was popular, but because one was quiet, timid. didn't speak to hardly anyone. obviously, that was joey. not to mention, he was quite attractive. the only thing that really made everyone stare was that he was had his arm around adriana,

they both noticed, joey grew annoyed while adri flat out did not care. she cared less of what anyone thought since she was her own person. something very rare to find in teenage girls. once adri reached the nurses office, she was even in shock. joey rolled his eyes and sent adri his smallest smile, which actually included his lips curving slightly and his eyes brightening. "do you mind staying?" the nurse asked politely. adri looked at joey, earning a small nod. she took a seat across from him.

"oh shoot, i'm out of ace bandages. i'll be back." the nurse groaned and left the room. adri swung her legs back and forth the chair. "you're short." joey said quietly. her eyes shot up to his eyes— which almost weren't visible from the swoop of his soft hair. "news to me." adri responded, joey chuckled. his eyes ranked her appearance, suddenly his body un-tensed and sat up straight, but leaned against the cabinets behind him. he admired how fragile and innocent she looked, but also how kind and considerate she was.

"so, you're what like 4'6?" joey suddenly stirred. she deadpanned, her signature expression. "i'm 5'2. fyi, and what about you? you're like sixty thousand feet tall." adriana crossed her legs, then her arms over her chest. "six, two." he shot back. his eyes instantly shot back to the window, seeing his mother with a concerned look. he stiffened up. the door opened, his mom, along with the nurse storming in to the smooth tension he once had with adri. which now was rigid. Jen's eyes immediately went to what she saw her son staring at— adriana. she smiled kindly and then looked down to her shoes. white, but tinted with dirt brown slip on vans. shoes that reminded her of a blank canvas, and a storm both at once. suddenly she had so much more interest in her shoes that the conversation didn't matter anymore. "adri." joey said, concern in his eyes as he stared at the zoned out petite girl before him. jen, and the nurse also staring. her head shot up, "yes?" she chirped. joeys lips twitched a smile, his mom seeing it all.

the two greeted each other out at the nurses room. and with that, adriana went home. she burst through the door unaware of the huge smile on her lips. she kept replaying the moment of joey smiling at her in her mind, Jen doing the same. she hadn't seen joey smile in a while. it was refreshing. mackenzie perked a brow at her cousin. "you're home, late. who'd you fuck." adriana's brows dropped and so did her smile. "nobody." she groaned, dropping her backpack by the door onto the ground.
"i actually was in the nurses office with joey." she casually said, walking into the kitchen. mackenzie followed shortly behind like a lost puppy. "you, were with, joey?" she furrowed her eyebrows. "why?"

adriana turned and heisted herself onto the counter, struggling a bit. "he fell while kicking a soccer ball and i took him to the nurse, he was limping so i think he pulled something. i dunno." she shrugged. mackenzie narrowed her eyes. "did you touch him?" adri nodded. mackenzies eyes went wide, "what!" she shrieked, coming closer. adriana read her expression, seeing excitement but concern written all over. "he's actually funny kenz, i even made him smile." she said in a hushed tone, going along with whatever it was everyone else did. kenzie rolled her eyes, "dude you don't even realize how big that is. he's literally the worlds biggest introvert."
