"King of Queen of Dance!" Lyla yelled as Lucas and I walked into school hand in hand. Students around clapped. Lyla got by my side as we made our way through the crowded hallway. "I'm serious that's what social media is calling you guys." She handed me her phone allowing me to see the news articles. "You've made it to the last few rounds. There's no way that you guys won't get in with all the publicity you're getting."
"You're saying the school only wants us for publicity?" Lucas asked.
"No, it's just a bonus." Lyla stopped at her locker and pulled out her science textbook."Sure you guys will only be going for the second semester of this year and all of next year but that's enough to blow up that school. I'm so proud of you guys, don't forget me when you guys live on campus."
"We'll come back. All the time." I unlocked my locker and pulled out my textbooks. Lucas went down the hall to his locker.
"Bitch." I turned to see Mia standing with her friend's arms crossed right behind her.
"For what?" I asked.
"What do you think? You took my freaking spot at that school. You'll pay for this Skylar."
"I'm still in the competition because I'm a better dancer and a better person." I slammed my locker shut making her jump."Believe it or not, they saw right through that show you were putting on. Or maybe your partner had told someone the way you treated him. When you treat people like garbage because there's something else going on with you, karma likes to play games. Think about that next time." She walked away anger clearly showing. I probably could see steam coming from her ears if I tried.
Lucas walked back over his hand covering his mouth to hold in his laughter. He composed himself a moment later. "I've waited for someone to do that for years."
"I'm glad it was her. Witch is evil." Layla said as she watched Mia round the corner. "Her minions are just like her too, just shorter." Layla walked away to her classroom.
"I'll see you in the studio at lunch?" I nodded giving him the chance to then kiss my cheek and run off to his first class. Besides some students asking for pictures and some even signatures, my morning went like most. Since I was skipping lunch to work on a workshop for the dance team this afternoon I grabbed some snacks from the vending machine. I waited outside the room until the bell rang releasing the students from the studio. Once they cleared out I went in and set up some music.
"I've got it!"Lucas yelled as he ran into the room.
"Got what?"
"Feelings for you." He smiled then pecked my lips leaving me with a smile."And a genius idea for our first chirograph dance we do together for the competition."
"What is it?" I asked. He opened his backpack and pulled out two long pieces of fabric.
"Blindfolds. Dancing blindfolded." My mouth dropped.
"Let's talk about after. I've got an idea for a dance for the workshop today. One thing at a time babe."
"Yeah...your right."He put his stuff down then took a stand next to me. I grabbed the remote and pressed play. I showed him what I had so far but it was only about half of what I wanted. The second time around he joined in adding moves. Working together we ended up finishing the dance. Of course, we had a couple more periods before school finished so we finished out the day then met the dance team in the studio. Mia continued to stay bitter throughout the workshop but we got it all together.
Mrs.Sandy helped take a video for Lucas and me. Once the workshop was over the dancers left the studio and Mrs. Sandy gave us the okay to stay in the room. I sat, my back to the mirror as I looked through my playlist. Lucas did the same in front of me.
"What about Khalid." I said as I handed him my phone.
"But what one they're all so good." He said.
"Play them, see what we feel." He did as I suggested and we sat listening to them. We finally landed on Silence.
"I think I've got something." He got onto his knees then leaned over his face close to mine. "Our connection better be as good as I feel it is." He stood then helped me up.
I laid onto my bed and hugged a pillow. Layla laid down next to me and smiled."I'm too tired for it."
"I want details," she said.
"Of what?" I asked.
"You and Lucas. My love life is nonexistent and yours is way too interesting."
"Fine." I sat up and looked at her. I pulled the necklace out from under my shirt. "He gave this to me backstage of the competition."She looked at it with aww."Then told me he...loved me." She froze then looked at me. She slowly moved back to her upright position."I know."
"He loves you." I nodded."And you love him." I nodded again. She put her hand in mine."So what colors would you like the wedding to be?" I shoved her making her catch herself and laugh. She looked back at me with a cheesy smile." I know these first few years of school with him was full of you giving him long gasping looks...kind of funny how this whole time he's been doing the same."
"It's a bit like..."
"Destiny. This was all ment to happen. Trust me. I'm very intuitive about these things.
