"This looks amazing." The stage one colours covered Lucas's house. Streamers, balloons, banners. Everything that was a classy modern home was now covered in turquoise and purple.
"Thanks honey." Lucas's mom smiled at me. "I'm so proud of you two. Practicing so hard and the late nights, early mornings...you two really deserve it."
"Mrs, Kennedy you really didn't have to do this. "
"Are you kidding me. My baby and his girl, who I one hundred percent approve of are winning some of the biggest opportunities their lives could throw at them and they got it by the balls. Of course I'm doing this."
"The baby pictures better be away." Lucas said as he walked in the room in just jeans and towel around his neck. His chest completely exposed making me want to run my hands on them right their but seeing Mrs, Kennedy right their killed that feeling real fast.
"We'll be back after the show but there'll be a small meeting with the judges, principal, and directors. We'll be about a half hour behind everyone else."
"Sounds good to me gives us time to just hang out." The party is for mostly our families and close friends, as well of this of the other contestants, disqualified and winning. Their friends and family. Lucas house was big enough to hold it especially the back yard.
"Okay you two should get going or you'll be late." Lucas grabbed my hand then ran me up the stairs. Once we got to his room he threw his towel on his dresser the. Pulling me close allowing our lips to touch. I couldn't help the smile that followed before he pulled away.
"What was that for?"
"Part of you Christmas gift."
"Christmas isn't for a week."
"Exactly." He grabbed a shirt from his dresser than walked over to his closet. I watched as his muscles tensed and bulged was he put his shirt on. He turned back to me. "I'm just a little excited."
"About?" He turned back to me.
"We're going to be leaving." He walked back over to me. He started leaning closer to me. Then he pulled out a box from the back of his jeans I watched as he opened it revealing a heart necklace with my favourite colour, deep purple, stone with it. "We'll be exploring and changing but it will never change how I feel about you." He put it on me making me turn my back to him. But he didn't fail to kiss the back of my neck sending shivers down my spine.
"To bad I don't have your gift." I said as I turned to him putting my arms around his neck. I pressed my lips to his and felt as his hands traveled down my back until they were under my butt. He lifted me up as if I weighed nothing allowing me to wrap my legs around his waist. He couldn't help taking a few steps back until he sat on his bed allowing me to sit on his lap. My legs now straddling him he put one hand behind him supporting him but I pushed him back hearing a slight laugh in his chest made me smile. He finally took over wrapping an arm around me and throwing me under him I just looked up at him.
"Don't look at me like that." He said before placing under my ear and trailing down my neck my hands running through his hair.
"Like what?" I breathed out.
"Like you want me to do-"
"Bitch!" Lyla said as she walked in. "Oh! Sorry am I interrupting?" She smiled. I rolled my eyes as Lucas got off from on top of me allowing me to sit up, Lucas sat next to me. "Good, you two ready to win this thing!"
"Yes Lyla," I smiled and she pumped her fist in the air.
"Hell yeah, anyway I'll meet you at the Center bye."she walked out and I looked at Lucas.
"She's special that one." He said.
"Yeah."I waited a moment before standing and locking the door. "Now...where were we?" I asked. Lucas stood slipping his hands around my waist pulling me to him.
***
"I've got you." Lucas said as he looked down at me.
"And I've got you." I said. He squeezed my hand and then grabbed the chair. As a video played some of our best moment in slow motion as we talked we went to the stage.
"I love working with Sky, when we dance we don't have to be anything but who we are in those moments." I heard Lucas voice for the voice over. "Nothing around matters anymore when I dance with her."
"I never expected to be good a dancing with a partner, I never got the chance and I thought I was just a dancer who danced alone. But Lucas definitely changed that. The brainstorming, the things we bring out in each other when we dance is like nothing I've ever felt before. I'm eternally grateful for him." I heard my own voice on the video a caught a glimpse of a slow motion video of the two of us looking at each other my hair swaying around me and a smile. I glanced out into the crowed. I saw my brother and best friend. I saw his friends there cheering me on and even my grandmother who I haven't seen in two years. Her smile big and clapping. I saw Lucas's family cheering for us and a sign with our names on it. His mother waved making something in my chest fill. Something I didn't know was missing.
"Lucas and Sky!"
The lights came on and I felt the music. Nothing can ruin this. Nothing can ruin my chance. Every move was perfect. Every moves flowed into the next and it wasn't a question as to who was winning. It wasn't going to be. I don't need my parents approval or support. I don't need them controlling me every second because here and now. I'm free.
I'm free.
I'm me.
When we stopped And heard the crowed stand clapping I couldn't help jumping into Lucas's arms his head burying into my neck.
"We did it." He said.
"We did it." I repeated.
Everyone gathered onto the stage a little bit later the last four groups. Three come out free rides to the school.
"Third place!" The principal help up the not card and paused making Andy breath heavy as she held onto Kieths hand. On the other side of me Zoey and Mike covered their mouths. Zoey eyes closed shut hoping it would change the outcome. "Zoey and Mike!" She opened her eyes and fell to the ground for a moment, but a moment later she was Miky's arms cheering with the rest of the crowd. I watch Victoria and John close their eyes. Andy held a look of only worry on her face. For someone so young she deserved this. Even more than me. I'm only going to the school for a year and half, she's going for three and half.
"Second place-" I looked out to Lucas's mother who blew a kiss to us. I looked back at the principal. "Andy and Kieth!" Andy let out a yelp. I ran over to her wrapping her in my arms.
"I'm so proud of you Andy." I told her. She squeezed me tight and I held her in my arm as Lucas joined us. We all stood together.
"First place is -" I looked at everyone around me. This moment is going to be with me forever no matter what. I know. Lucas by my side and a crowed chanting his and my names.
"Lucas and Sky!"
