Your POV
You collapsed onto your bed and let out a long deep sigh. Staring at the ceiling above you, you tried desperately to hold back the tears you could feel building up in your eyes. You couldn't believe Remus had just walked away from you like that. He seemed so different to the other boys in your year. But now you were beginning to think you'd got him all wrong.
'Hey (Y/N)' You sat up as you heard Lily's voice. She smiled sheepishly at you as your eyes met hers.
'Hi' You mumbled 'I was getting bored of being outside, so I thought I'd come back up here.'
You could feel your cheeks burn as you looked at her. You knew there was no point in even trying to pretend it wasn't Remus that made you run away, but you simply couldn't face the embarrassment of explaining everything to Lily right now. You felt completely and utterly humiliated. Like you had done over the past four years of being at Hogwarts, Remus had put you back in your place of being ignored.
'Listen, Remus wouldn't have meant to upset you.' She said.
'I don't care! I don't care about Remus.' You snapped 'I told you. I came back up here because I was bored. Now if you don't mind, I want to be left alone.'
Lily stood there staring at you for several moments before she turned and walked down the stairs. As soon as she was out of sight, tears pushed their way out of your pupils and streamed down your cheeks.
Remus's POV
~24 hours later~
The room span at an alarmingly rate as I slowly opened my eyes. The floor around me was littered with all sorts of debris and rubbish. My head pounded with such force I was immediately sick the moment I sat up.
Looking down at my body, I noticed several tears and rips in my clothes. Several areas were covered in blood and others were caked in thick dirt and grit. I cupped my hands over my face and screamed.
'Remus' I instantly looked up to see Sirius stood by the doorway 'Another bad one?'
'Yes Sirius. Another bad one.' I snapped. Sirius quickly made his way over to me and offered his hand out. I took it and he pulled me up to my feet. The room continued to spin and I took several jittery and unstable steps before I could regain my balance.
'I've brought you some more clothes down. We're going to have throw these away.' Sirius said as he put his arm around me for extra support 'I'll get rid of them.'
'Thank you Sirius. Once I'm out of these clothes, would you take me back up to the common room? I need to sleep.' I explained, sluggishly leaning against his shoulder. The more steps I took, the weaker my body felt. It felt as though I was going to crumble into a pile of dust any second.
'Of course. Once we've got you changed and cleaned up. We'll head straight over there.' Sirius explained. I smiled gratefully at him. I'd never of be able to survive in this school if it wasn't for him and James.
'Have you seen (Y/N)?' I asked Sirius. Sirius shook his head.
'No, but it is wise Remus?' Sirius said 'To get involved with her. Remember what Dumbledore said. Keep your circle small.'
'I don't know.' I shrugged. But deep down, I knew he was right.
'You've got your real friends Remus. The friends who would do anything for you and you don't need anything else. Please don't ruin your chance of being here.' Sirius said 'Dumbledore has done a lot to get you here.'
Sirius was right. I could never tell her. She never understand nor accept it. Nobody ever did.
Your POV
It had been over 24 hours since you'd last seen Remus and it was somewhat of a relief to you. You'd at least been spared the embarrassment of seeing him for a little while.
'What did you want to do today?' Lily asked as the two of you sat by the fire in the common room. You shrugged and fiddled with a loose piece of thread hanging off the arm of the chair.
'I was going to plan my week later and then I thought about just having a quiet day.' You explained. Lily sighed and cocked her head to one side.
'It's okay if you're still upset with Remus.' She said. You instantly looked up at her, your jaw clenched and your eyebrows knitted.
'I'm not upset with him. I just want to have a quiet day, that's all.' You explained, trying your best not to be snappy. Lily was about to say something else when the door to the common room opened and Remus and Sirius walked in. Your heart dropped down to your stomach as you looked at Remus.
He looked like he'd aged ten years. His skin was haggard and white as a sheet. His hair was sticking up in every possible direction and he appeared to be limping as he walked across the room.
'Sirius, Remus.' Lily said as the two of you watched them cross the room. Neither of them acknowledged Lily's call and continued to walk until they were out of sight and up the stairs to the boys dorm.
'What happened to Remus? Is he okay?' You questioned, suddenly finding yourself forgetting about yesterday and worrying about what had happened to him. Lily smiled at you but you could see right through it. She was worrying just as much as you.
'He's fine.' She said, before she quickly got up without another word. You wanted to say something to her but she was too quick and out of sight before you had the chance. You wanted to go after her but you knew it would be no use. You thought about Remus, and how Sirius, James and Lily were always with him. Suddenly it all made sense. Remus Lupin was definitely hiding something and they were all helping him.
