Chapter 12: Deserved It

"So... why are we gonna go here?" I asked, holding my 1-month old baby bump in my arms. Levi pulled up into a mall's parking lot. 

He sighed, "We need more supplies, and clothes. Especially clothes for you. With that baby in you, you need clothes that will fit you the whole entire pregnancy. And, I need to find some things for you... a special surprise."

I smiled softly, "A surprise?"

"Of course..." He says, kissing my cheek. "Come on, let's go."

My head bobbed as I nodded, leaving the passenger side. "Okay... can we get something to eat? I'm a bit starving- no, I'm really starving..." I say, locking arms with Levi.

Levi chuckles, pulling me down and kissing me on my lips. "You're always hungry... we just ate an hour ago. But... since I do love you and that you do have my child in you... let's get you something to eat. What do you want to eat?"

"Mm... smoothies. Or chocolate. Maybe both. I'm having a sweet tooth right now..."

"That's nice... come on and I'll get you a chocolate smoothie."

While sipping on the chocolate smoothie, I followed Levi into a pharmacy and he searched for something... I don't know what he wanted... but he was searching for it.

"Heh... well, you're cute... never seen a cutie like you around here... where are you from?"

"I'm taken." I perked up when I heard Levi's voice. When I turned to face him, I saw Levi with a few items on the counter with a girl with tan hair. She leaned over the counter, twirling her hair and giggling. "Please, I just want this stuff and a few other things."

"Oh? Other things?" She asks as she scanned the items. "Like what?"

"Things about... pregnancy stuff. Something help my girlfriend."

The young woman chuckled softly. "Pregnant girlfriend? That's bad... I'm surprised she hasn't dumped you yet... or maybe she's planning to. Either way, you're fuc-"

"Shut up. Just, give me the stuff I wanted."

My eyes narrowed as I watched the girl and Levi. Was she... flirting with him? My heart soared when I realized that Levi stayed by my side.

"I gotta use the bathroom." I say to Levi, kissing him before I walked away. "Okay? I'll be back."

He nods, holding onto our stuff. "Alright. Not too long."

I nodded, walking towards the bathrooms. But then... I saw that girl in the smoking area. I scowled, walking towards her instead. Slowly, I approached her, pretending to smile without pain hindering me.

"Hey there."

She jumps, chuckling softly. "May I help you?"

I nodded, walking closer to her. "Yeah... well, in a way. In the pharmacy, I was there with my boyfriend... and you were flirting with him. And... insulting me. Care to explain?"

"Hah, you're the whore who's pregnant with his child? Idiotic. You don't deserve to be with him-"

How could I let her get away with threats like that? I let my anger take over and I growled. The thought of my baby slipped my mind as I reached forward and wrapped my fingers around her neck. "You... shut up..."

"H-Help..."

"No one is gonna help you..." I growled as my gripped tightened. I stared down at her with fury. "You dare to insult me like that? Huh? Try to steal him away? I will always protect him... he's all mine..."

I pushed her down onto the ground... and I felt her breath beginning to leave me. When her limbs lost their strength, I pushed down again. "Hanji! No!" Levi shouted, pulling me away from the girl. "No more deaths!" He pushed against me and holding me down. "No more... please."

"She deserved it, Levi... she called me a 'whore' and wanted to take you away from me-"

"No one is gonna take me away from you. I promise you that. No one. I said it before." He looks down at the girl, groaning. "We gotta bail, now!" His firm grip on my arm was so tight... and he pulled me towards the car. 

Did I do the right thing? Or did I lose Levi?

Officer Hays' POV

"He called her... Hanji. I'm sure of it." Ms. Maya Quint plead as the bruises began to show on her neck. "I know I provoked her... but she almost killed me..."

"What else do you know about this situation?" I asked, leaning close. I was this close... I just need to find out where she is.

She looked down, trying to remember. For a second, she jolts up with her eyes widened. "H-Her boyfriend... he was looking for things to treat the girl's pregnancy. She was pregnant... and I insulted her about it... is that good?"

I nodded, thanking her. Pregnant... it was a very good lead. "Thank you. We'll have some officers posted by your house in case if she wanted to finish the job." Hanji Zoe... you're acting like your mother. Of course, I know the whole story... your pregnancy is slowing you down... and I will track you from that. But for now... where are you going?
