Chapter 20: Mommy?

Raven's POV

Fake Daddy went to sleep in his room... thinking I was already asleep. But I waited and waited for a really long time. The clock even said... er... 12 am. And slowly and carefully, I walked into the living room. I used the flashlight that Fake Daddy gave to me and tried to look for the file that I looked through.

I looked, and I looked... but I had found nothing. I wanted to cry because Daddy was counting on me, and I wasn't doing a good job. But then, I remembered something. Whenever Daddy wanted to keep something safe... he kept it near him. So... I had to go to his room.

Tiptoeing there, I slowly opened the door and saw him sleeping. I wanted to freeze in place... but I had to keep going... to find Mommy. I slowly walked over to the table and tried to find it. I tried looking for it... and I found Mommy's picture. I quickly took everything that had the name, 'Hanji Zoe,' because Daddy said that that was her name. After getting the pictures, I went back to my room and quickly called Daddy.

"D-Daddy..." I called to him after everything happened. I don't know what to do...

"Raven, shouldn't you be asleep?"

"B-But... I have Mommy's things... I don't know what to call..."

He chuckles softly, and I thought of him holding me closely. "Raven, calm down. It's okay. You got this. I'll call the numbers. Just... tell me the numbers."

I nodded, beginning to read all the numbers. But, I yawned and felt very... very tired...

"Sleep, Raven. I got it all." He makes kissing noises and I hung up before sleeping. 

"M-Mommy..." I say before the darkness took over. I... I want my mommy...

Levi's POV

That's funny... one of the numbers didn't seem like a phone number. A 6-digit number... definitely not a phone number... but perhaps... could it be a patient ID number? It had to be. Shit... 10 minutes left of having the phone. Could I possibly do it now? No... I don't have enough time. There's over 20 numbers here, and I can't call all 20 of them and have a talk with Hanji. No... I'll do it tomorrow.

"Take me back." I say to the guards as they began to walk towards me.

They escorted me back to my cell, and I looked through all the phone numbers. I felt the minutes pass by, and I sorted them all out. Only one number stood out, and it had a weird number. Anywho, I'll call it in the morning... and I'll find Hanji... I promised Raven I would find her.

"I need to speak with a patient there. Her name is Hanji Zoe, and her ID number is 24221. I need to speak to her." I began to speak to a man on the phone. I held myself to not growl at him... the process of talking to my lover was long and tedious...

So then, they continued to put stupid music, that no one cares about, and I waited. "H-Hello?" I couldn't tell that it was her voice. She sounded... strained... tired... worn-out. Tears began to form when I thought of her in that condition. What were they doing to her?! "W-Who's there?"

"H-Hanji, it's me, love."

There was a small bit of silence until her voice perked up. "L-Levi?! Oh god... Levi..."

"I know, I know... it's been 6 years."

"It's scary here... I... I don't like it. I don't want to be here... there's too many nightmares haunting me every night. Their experiments... they don't care about us."

"Us? H-Hanji... what's going on?"

She began to cry, sniffing and I just wanted to reach out and comfort her. "Even though... we're not supposed to feel anything... they torment us... threatening to hurt our loved ones if we disobey- so many blood they took from me... and I got scared. Levi, where are you?"

"I'm in jail, Hanji... but don't worry. I'll figure something out... I promise. Raven's fine as well."

"R-Raven? Our daughter? W-Well... where is she?"

I sighed, picturing how sweet and how she looked. "She's with that officer... the very one who took her away from us. But I talked to her. She remembers you. Raven still loves you, Hanji... and she really misses you. Listen to me very carefully, okay? I need you to tell me everything about the facility you are in right now."

"W-Why?"

"Why? Hanji... I'm breaking you out of there. After I break out of this prison, I'm getting Raven and I am gonna go straight to you. I'll take you and Raven far away... we'll live together... as a family again. I won't let anything bad happen to you guys."
