People began to talk about Petra's so-called suicide here... and I felt that it was a good thing. The police was only involved in determining the suicide and clearing the scene. Teachers were then attempting to aid everyone to start their 'healing process.'
Of course, people were afraid and scared because of Petra's death... and I had to pretend... as always do. Pretending was practically how I lived my life. And everything continued until the next day.
"Ms. Zoe." I turned to see the principal, Mrs. Pennison.
"Hm?" My head tilted with confusion as she approached me. "Yes, ma'am?"
"Aren't you supposed to be at the assembly? The one that's dedicated for Ms. Petra Ral's suicide. Why aren't you there?"
"U-Um..." The principal's arms began to cross as I tried to search my mind for answers. "I-I just couldn't be there..." I began to grit my teeth as I lied with a bit of fear lingering on my voice. "H-Her suicide... I can't take it..."
She sighs, nodding her head. "I understand. But during this time, you're not allowed to walk around the halls during an assembly. You may sit in the cafeteria if you do not want to be in the assembly. You're excused."
Once more, I nodded my head, lowering it down and staring at my feet as I began to walk to the cafeteria. Thankfully, she never caught me lying and I made my escape.
* * *
Sitting down in the cafeteria, I noticed that there was only 3 people in there with a single security guard. And... there was one only person I seemed to recognize... Levi. My heart began to soar when I saw him there... and I shifted my seats towards him.
"H-Hey..." Levi looks up and smirks. "I thought you disliked school... why are you here, Levi?" I began to chuckle softly.
He simply shrugged, sighing. "Well... I was outside and avoiding school... but then, the security guards were upped up and sent me inside the school. What about you? Why are you here, Hanji?"
"Can't stay in the assembly... a bit... disturbing..." Pound, pound, pound. It echoed in my head. My palms grew sweaty as I stared into his eyes... I just wanted him to hold me... to comfort me.
"Ah, I see..." He chuckles, rolling his beautiful, cloudy gray eyes... Why, oh why is he so cute like this? "So... glad that I'm here to comfort you or something?"
"Or something..." We chuckled softly as I slowly leaned towards him. I yearned for him... I wanted him. Did Petra's death scare him? It didn't seem to startle him... but would he fall for me as much as I have? After all... I killed for his love... "I thought I wouldn't see a familiar face..."
"Me too. Thought that you would be in the assembly. Guess we were both wrong." I nodded, sighing and pulling back. "Hanji, are you busy this weekend?"
"Hm?"
Levi leaned forward, sighing a bit. "Well, I'm asking if you're busy this weekend. You're... not like normal girls... and I can tell. Just they way you are... I can tell you're rare." Rare like my sickness... "So tell me, yes or no? Busy?"
"I-I'm not busy..." Why must I feel compelled to stutter my words? "Why do you ask?"
He then leaned back, gripping onto the table tightly with his pale hands. "Well... uh... like I said... you're not like other girls... just wanted to... I-I guess... hang out with you? Try to know you a bit more? Something like that- I don't even know."
So... like a date... "I see... um, yeah, I'm not busy at all."
"That's good... this Saturday at noon... wanna meet me near the entrance? Or do you want to... uh... meet me near a theater...? Up to you... in case if you don't want me near your house-"
"Y-You can pick me up at my house, Levi..." My house? Why am I suggesting that? I guess it's okay because none of my parents are here... I just hope... no one... sees us...
Levi then stares up at me with surprise. "Wait, are you serious? Huh... um, okay... here, give me your phone number and I'll contact you when I'm on my way to your house."
As soon as I began to unlock my phone, I began to ask a question. "What's wrong about going to my house? Is it... not normal?" Would he notice? Please... I wish he doesn't know... not when I'm this close to loving him...
He shakes his head, grinning a bit. "Well... not normal in terms that we are still acquaintances... I would expect that I can go over to your house if we were... gulps more than just... acquaintances..."
Was he getting nervous already? How... cute... "Sorry... it's just... y-you're one of the only boys I spoken to... and... y-you know..."
All of a sudden, I felt his hand on my chin and he forced me to look straight into his eyes- despite me trying to avoid into his mesmerizing eyes... "Well... guess it's safe to say that you look cute. I don't understand why people -especially guys- are missing a piece of beauty like you..." He smirked and made my face grow warm.
The bell rings, making me jump. Why couldn't I spend more time with him? Why does time have to screw with me? Why couldn't I be with the one I truly love you... "N-No..."
Levi grunts as he stands up with his backpack and looks down to me. "Come on, let's go..." He then leans down and kisses my forehead. "Or... more of you have to go to class. I'll see you this weekend." He chuckles and walks away, leaving me in awe.
"L-Levi..." I whispered to myself, watching him walk away from me and disappearing into the incoming crowd.
