Chapter 13: Birth Control

A couple of days have passed. I had noticed that my body was definitely changing and I was starting to get round. I'm hoping my mom doesn't notice, and since it's been getting really cold, it was acceptable to be wearing big clothes and jackets. Mom has let us start eating again, but she was still making me throw up after school and I'm not sure how long she was going to force me to do that. I was getting worried about my baby growing inside me. It was Saturday, which I was excited for, until my mom walked in my room informing me of the doctors appointment that Hope and I had to go to. I was scared, I knew they were going to test for pregnancy and I hadn't thought of what I was going to do. Hope walked in my room after we had both gotten dressed and she handed me a closed cup filled with something yellowish.

"What the heck is this?"

"It's for you. It's a just in case, I know you've been the one sexually active and if you are pregnant, this isn't the way mom should find out. So it's just for safety." I thanked her mentally. I went and put the cup in my bag. We headed out to the car and waited for mom. Once she was in the car, we made our way to the doctors. I was really nervous, even though Hope helped me a lot without realizing how much she actually did. We got to the doctors office, once inside we met with a doctor, who gave us each a cup to pee in. We went into our separate restrooms and did our business, except I poured Hope's pee into the cup and I just used the restroom. We walked out and handed the cups back to the doctor.

“I will have the results out in a few.” The doctor said. We went and sat with mom, eagerly awaiting the results.

“You better not be pregnant.” My mom said to both of us. I sat back in the chair, sighing a little. It wasn't too long later, when the doctor came back with a smile on his face.

“I’m happy to report that neither of them are pregnant.” Mom smiled at him.

“Thank you so much doctor. I would like to request birth control for both of the girls.” My eyes slightly widen.

“Of course! We can look into the options and decided what would be best for both of the girls. We have the pill, the shot, the IUD or the implant.”

“Ok and what would be the best option for long term? Like, I don’t have to worry about them forgetting to take it or forgetting at all.”

“I would either recommend the IUD or the implant then, if you want long term. I would do your research before deciding which one as well, as we talk about it.” Mom looked at him and thought about it.

“I’ll look them up now. Would we be able to do it today? Whichever one I choose?”

“I don’t see why not.” I was screwed! I immediately tried to mind link Jason.

Jason are you there?

Callie? What’s up?

My mom is trying to get us on birth control. I’m not sure what that will do to the baby. I mean, it can’t be safe for me.

Where are you?

I don’t know some doctors office in town. I think it's the women's health clinic.  And Jason never replied. I hope he doesn’t do something that would get us in trouble. My mom had sat down and started looking up the pros and cons of both birth controls. All of a sudden, the office phone started ring, the girl at reception picked it up and started talking, then she looked at us. Great.

“Hey doctor? There is someone on the phone for you, asking to speak to you privately.” The receptionist said. The doctor walked over, grabbed the phone and went to a private room.  After a few minutes the doctor came back with a smile.

I’ve taken care of it. Jason chimed in. So it was him that called, how sweet of him.

“So, I have decided what I have wanted. We are going to be going with the implant.” My mom said once the doctor came back. The doctor looked me over, then back at my mom and smiled.

“Of course, but you can’t be in the room while I do this. Let’s have Callie come on in and I’ll start on her.” Mom nodded. I stood up and followed the doctor to the room. Once we were alone, the doctor looked me over once more. “So, how’d you pass the test?”

“My sister gave me some of her urine before we came here. But she doesn’t know, she was doing it just in case.” The doctor nodded.

“Ok. Well I’m going to have to do something, just so your mom thinks that you have the implant since you can feel it in your arm. Also, I informed Jason about taking you to come see me for check ups.” I nodded. I had the best mate ever. “So, I’m going to be putting something in your arm that feels like the implant, but will be safe for you and the baby.” The doctor numbed my arm and did the procedure. After he was done, I headed back out to the lobby, letting Hope know that is was her turn.

“Let me see.” My mom said when I sat down. I showed her my arm and she seemed satisfied. Thankfully. Maybe about 15 minutes later, Hope came out.

“Alright, we are all done here. Have a great day ladies.” With that, we all left to head back home. I was very relieved that my baby was safe, as of now, and that I’ll be having appointments here in the near future.
