Askova, Derek, Lindsay, Maggy, Dave, Ray, Michaela, and Willow were huddled together as the big herd of cannibals was walking past the Medicine Shoppe in St. Louis at night. Ray fell asleep again.
" Guys, how long is it going to be? I'm hungry!" complained Lindsay. Askova scooted towards her.
" It should almost be over, it's been 10 minutes, and it's almost sunrise." Lindsay looked at her.
" Well, can we go to a McDonalds, cause I'm feeling like having a Big Mac," Lindsay joked. Askova chuckled. She looked at the others.
" And what would you guys like?" Askova asked. They looked at each other and realized that she was joking.
" I would like a regular cheeseburger and a medium frie," Willow said.
" Two Big Macs," Michaela blurted. Askova nodded and looked at Dave.
" I want a Happy Meal. And a Pepsi." Askova looked confused.
" A Happy Meal?" she questioned." Pepsi? Who drinks Pepsi these days?" Derek commented. Everyone looked at him, " what? I drink Coca-Cola," he said proudly.
" And I drink Dr. Pepper," Maggy said. Derek looked mad.
" You know what? Why can't there be only one type of soda, which is-," Derek started.
" Coca-Cola! We get it!" everyone blurted in unison. Derek bundled up, looking tired.
" Why are we even arguing about soda? They're all bad for you," Lindsay commented. Everyone nodded,
" besides, it's clear outside. We should probably leave." Everyone agreed and got up.
Maggy wiped the frost off the window and looked outside.
" It's pretty clear outside. Just a couple left," Maggy commented, breathing fog on the window, and wiped off enough to see outside. Dave walked over and opened the door. They were greeted with sunshine and cold blasting in their faces.
" Damn. I forgot it was still winter," Derek said, putting his coat on. Askova scoffed.
" Ray get up. We're leaving." Lindsay shook Ray. Ray groaned.
" I'm tired. Don't you have anyone else to bug?" Ray asked.
" No, because everyone else is awake and we're leaving. Come on, get up," Lindsay sternly replied. Ray got up and looked directly outside the door, and the cold was blasting in her face.
" Okay, I think I'm awake now," Ray replied, shivering. She grabbed her jacket next to her, and a blanket, wrapping herself in its warmness. Lindsay helped Ray up.
" Ray, you can't bring the blanket with you," Askova sighed. Ray groaned.
" But it's cold, and my jacket isn't helping."
" Then you should have thought of that before wearing it huh?" Askova retorted. Ray looked sad.
" What's wrong?" Michaela asked. Ray took a second before answering.
" I still feel bad about Destiny's death. It should have been me. It should have been me!" Ray yelled. Derek came over.
" She died saving you. She sacrificed her life for you. You should be grateful," Derek answered. Ray looked like she was about to cry, " and we'll always remember her, right?" Derek asked, looking at everyone else. They all nodded their heads. Derek looked at Ray again. Ray started crying. Michaela came over and picked her up.
" Up you go, come on." Derek walked over to Askova and looked at her.
" She feels really bad," Derek said. Askova looked down and looked up again.
" If it happened to me, I would feel the same way," Askova answered, and walked towards the door. Lindsay, Willow, Michaela, Ray, and Derek walked towards where Dave and Maggy were.
