Askova arrived at the patient still struggling with Bulimia Nervosa and knocked on the door.
" Come in," a voice said. Askova walked in. She saw a girl, around the age of 15, in a bed with a water bottle in her hand, a mouthpiece in the other. There was also a machine, the breathing treatment, and a nebulizer. Those were probably the things CF patients need to survive Askova thought.
" Hi, I'm Askova Hunt, and I wanted to talk to you." The girl looked sick. She was pretty pale, but she was pretty. She just looked at Askova with a calm look.
" Ok, what about?" she asked. Askova walked over, pulled up a chair, and sat next to her. She looked down, then looked up at her.
" Well, first of all, I would really like to know your name," Askova asked. The girl nodded.
" My name is Silvia Foster," the girl replied. Silvia then drank some water out of her water bottle.
" Ok, Silvia, I wanted to talk to you about you... um, struggle with something right now." Silvia frowned.
" Bulimia, yeah I know. I'm stuck with a stupid psychiatrist right now," Silvia replied, sighed. Askova sighed and sat up. She put her chair back.
" You would, um...care to get up for me? I want to show you something. Don't worry, I won't hurt you," asked Askova. Silvia hesitated but weakly and slowly got up. Askova escorted her towards a mirror that was in the room, " could you turn to your right please?" Silvia did just that. She looked in the mirror, then frowned.
" What's this for?" she asked.
" Look in the mirror. What do you see?" Silvia looked in the mirror.
" I only see me," replied Silvia. Askova frowned.
" Look at your belly. See how indent it is?" Silvia's belly was pretty indent, which showed that she hasn't really eaten anything. She was really skinny.
" Yeah, what's wrong about that?" Silvia asked.
" That's a bad thing. I don't see any fat on your belly." Silvia didn't change expressions.
" Yeah I guess I can see that, but that's good, right? It means I'm not fat," Silvia assured.
" Yeah, I guess, but it's actually a bad thing. Can you tell me what belly fat is good for?" asked Askova. She shook her head, " belly fat actually protects your organs, your health, and your bone and nerves system. Having too little will mean you're prone to heart problems, energy depletion, you get brittle bones, and you're muscles get pretty weak. If you keep regurgitating your food, then soon your belly fat levels will go below 5%, and that's a bad thing. And of course, having too much belly fat will lead to heart problems, diabetes, stroke, and breast cancer." Silvia stared at her, "I never liked health, but I really enjoyed the unit. If you need someone, I'm always here for you. Ask me questions, and I'll be happy to answer." Silvia looked down, and tears started to trickle down her face. Askova hugged her, and Silvia wrapped her arms around her. They walked over to the bed and sat down.
" I never thought that having fat like that was so good for you," replied Silvia, trying to speak past her tears. Askova was still hugging her.
" Why did you start doing this to your body?" Askova asked. Silvia looked at her.
" I don't know, all the kids at school were picking on me about my weight, and I wanted them to stop," replied Silvia. She was still crying, but it died down a little.
" Why should you care at what they say about you? You're pretty just the way you are. People are assholes these days, mind my language by the way, but they are. They only like you if they can see your bones through your skin. They think they know best, but really they want to kill you. Never listen to anyone but yourself," assured Askova. Silvia smiled, then hugged her again.
" Thanks, you really helped me today." Askova nodded. And gave Silvia her water bottle.
" I should probably be going. See you around, and make sure to eat as much as you can," commented Askova Silvia nodded, then Askova headed out of the room.
