In about a week, Askova was feeling better, but they didn't risk bringing her along to their trip to get more supplies. They apparently needed more food. They said that " you could stay and help the patients and doctors or whatever." Michaela's exact words. Askova didn't really want to go. She was still a little sick, not exactly all better. They left, not saying goodbye. But Derek hugged her. She thought that was weird. She didn't exactly like him, but he liked her.
Askova was wandering around the hospital, finding something to do. A patient approached her, asking for her help. He was a little older than her.
" A patient won't come out of their room. They're just refusing."
" Why?"
" They're convinced that the... what do you call it?"
" Cannibals."
" Yeah, that the cannibal virus has affected everyone, and everyone is dying."
" And why do you want my help?" Askova asked.
" Because you made Silvia feel better about her anorexia nervosa. You seem like a helpful person," the patient finished, " not even the doctors can get her out."
Askova approached the room that the patient won't come out of. Everyone looked at Askova as she approached. She was so tired that she doesn't even care what she does.
" OMG, it's that girl who fought that doctor," a patient said.
" Yeah, she's a freak," said another.
" Yeah, and this freak will fight you if you say anything else," Askova replied, sternly. Everyone kept their mouth shut. Askova knocked on the door, " hey, you in there?" No answer. She knocked again.
" Go away, infected!"
" If I was infected, then you would be infected too, idiot, so don't test me," Askove replied. She was going to be a little mean because she wasn't feeling well. She tried being nice, but it was impossible. Askova was going to have to lie, " tell me one thing you know about viruses?" Askova asked.
" They are on computers," the patient replied. Askova just sighed and banged her head on the door.
" No, idiot. I'm talking about the ones that humans have, have common sense," Askova said, agitated.
" Um, oh, they can spread!"
" Yeah, and that door is not saving you from the virus," Askova explained, " now, a lot more than half of America is infected with this virus. You will become one of them if you believe in your own intuition, cause your intuition is really stupid," there was nothing behind the door, " you want to die in this?"
" No, but-"
" Think about it." Askova walked away, everyone staring at her. It was quiet.
