Danny and Robert finished putting out the fire with the fire extinguisher, though the patient ran off. They picked up the equipment and put it back on the cart. They unplugged the cords and threw them out of a nearby window. They both clapped the hands of each other when they finished.
" Job well done," Danny commented, happily. Robert nodded his head but looked over to the double doors. Danny followed.
" What's behind there?" Robert asked, looking at Danny. Danny shook his head.
" I dunno'," Danny replied. They looked around to see if anyone was watching before walking over. Danny tried to open the doors, but they were locked. Robert took the fire extinguisher and slammed it into the window. The window broke, throwing a hundred glass shards everywhere. He slipped his hand through it and unlocked the door from the other side. The doors opened.
" Come on!" Danny whispered excitedly. They quietly walked through, pushing the doors closed.
It was a long hallway, dark and cold, desolate from the rest. The smell was like a thousand dead bodies cremated, lingering with the smell of death. It reeked of mold and wet walls, dripping with sewage water. The lights were completely off. Robert tried to use the light switch on the wall, but it didn't work. Danny put his hand over his mouth and nose to stop from breathing in the horrid smell. Robert did the same.
" Gross. No wonder this place was blocked off," Danny commented. Robert walked a little ahead to see inside of the rooms. They were dusty and empty. No one has been there for a while. They ended up at the end of the hallway, reaching the location of the smell. Danny looked away, about to puke.
" It's okay, brother. Puke if you want," Robert assured. Danny took note of this, and turned around, throwing up. Robert walked over, patting his shoulder.
" I... think I'm all better now. Man, can we get out of here?" Robert nodded, helping Danny up. But Robert stopped.
" What was that noise?" Robert asked. Danny sighed, rubbing his temples.
" Dude, we need to leave. What is Askova and the others found Salerno by now? We need to be there for that," Danny protested. Robert started to walk towards a room with little light, " what are you doing?"
" The noise. It came from in there." He walked quietly. Danny stayed still, considering whether or not he should leave or go with his brother. In the end, he chose to follow his brother.
" Fine. But only for a couple of minutes," Danny urged. They entered the room. There were hundreds of dead bodies in there, rotting away, skin torn and hair pulled.
" Nope. I'm leaving," Danny said. He was about to throw up again. Robert walked in, " the hell are you doing? We have no idea who done this." Robert scoffed.
" They wouldn't still be here... right?" Robert said, turned around facing Danny. Danny screamed.
" ROBERT! WATCH OUT!" Robert was then pulled down by a cannibal. Danny ran up, pulling the cannibal off. The cannibal faced the wall, back facing Danny. He grabbed a nearby object, scissors, and stabbed the cannibal in the head. But, he missed it. It came running after Danny.
" I didn't know they could run!" Robert exclaimed. Danny tripped and fell on his butt. The cannibal fell to the ground and started crawling towards him. Danny scooted backward, trying to get back up, but the floors were too slick from all of the blood.
" Hang on brother!" Robert came running from behind, holding the scissors from the cannibals back and stabbed the cannibal in the head. Blood spurted everywhere. Danny gasped, and fell to the floor, lying in blood and guts. Robert walked over and offered his hand. Danny grabbed it, and Robert pulled him up. Danny looked down.
" I'm so sorry, I could have gotten you killed," Robert sobbed. He hugged Danny, surprising him. Danny hugged him back.
" I offered to come. It's not your fault," Danny started to cry. Robert pulled away, wiping the tears off his face with his shirt sleeve. Danny looked over the lifeless corpse and said, " another job well done." Robert stifled a laugh. Danny patted Roberts back, before turning to leave out of the door, leaving the cadaver behind.
