Everyone was sitting in the lounge room. There was peaceful music playing. The lounge was everyone's hang out spot, including the patients.
" Blech, I wish rock music would play. This hospital music sucks," Ray said. She was half asleep. Derek was contemplating a way to tell Askova that he liked her.
" Hey man, you alright?" Dave asked. Derek sighed.
" This is going to sound stupid, but how would a girl know if a boy likes her?"
" Really, right now? Why do you think such a thing?" Dave scoffed. Derek looked at him.
" How do I tell Askova that I like her?"
" Oh, that's what you mean," Dave corrected. Derek looked down, " come on, stop stabbing yourself over that. Just go to her hospital room and say that you like her. Capiche?" Dave made an okay sign with his hand. Derek sighed.
They arrived at Askovas hospital room. Everyone was with him.
" You can do this Derek," Lindsay said.
" Don't wuss out at the last minute when you're about to say it," Michaela smirked.
" Why did you bring us along?" Sam complained. Ivy stood next to them, blowing a bubble with her gum.
" Cause you need to give him support," Willow responded.
" But we hate each other," Ivy stated.
" Just because you don't mean that you have to keep hating each other." Willow popped Ivy's bubble with her finger. Ivy gasped loudly.
" We will settle this in the lounge," Ivy said. She stomped to the lounge.
" Over a bubble?"
" Come on Derek, you got this," Dave said. He opened the door and pushed him in. He gave him a last thumbs up before shutting the door. Askova woke up from the door closing.
" Oh, hey Derek. Back so soon?" Askova said, fatigued.
" Uhh, it's been 3 hours?"
" Heh, it felt like 2 minutes," Askova replied. She sat up, " so, what do you want?" Derek chuckled and sat down in the same chair beside her. Askova looked at him. He had a blank stare.
" So um, have you heard me and Michaela talk about something before?" Derek asked.
" I've heard you two talk about a lot of stuff before. Which time are you talking about?"
" About me liking someone?" Askova thought.
" Oh yeah! I walked by Michaela's room and heard you two talking about that," Askova replied. She looked at him, " so who do you like?" Askova was curious but really wanted to know. Derek was fumbling with his words.
" Um, we... well. This is going to be really hard t... to say but um..." Derek was really nervous. Askova was still looking at him, " I can't. I'm sorry." Derek ran out of the room. Askova was confused. Derek ran down to the lounge. Everyone looked into Askovas hospital room.
" So... who does he like?" Askova asked.
" You literally have no idea?" Dave asked. Askova shook her head. Everyone but Michaela left for the lounge.
" He likes you, dimwit," Michaela bluntly said.
" What?"
" You heard me."
" But, what were you guys talking about the other day?"
" Oh my god," Michaela rubbed her temples, " we were talking about how he should confess it to you. Get your head straight."
" Well, that's a little mean," Askova replied.
" You want to know more, ask Derek." Michaela closed the door and left for the lounge.
" Derek likes... me?" Askova asked herself, " why not someone else? Why me?" Askova was asking herself all of these questions. Maybe her fever got the best of her.
" Oh my god, I didn't tell her," Derek confessed.
" Ha, don't worry about it. I told her when everyone else left," Michaela commented. Everyone looked at
her, " what? She knows now, don't worry."
" Derek wanted to tell her," Lindsay said. Ray nodded.
" It's fine, I wouldn't have been able to do it anyway," Derek quietly said.
" You're a wuss then," Willow teased.
" I don't think it's easy for any guy to confess to their crush," Maggy said.
" Hey Raiven, has a guy ever confessed their love for you?" Lindsay asked.
" Uh, nope. But I have, to a guy," Ray replied.
" Really? To who?"
" My cousin."
" Uhm..."
" I love my cousin. Not like dating, but like family. Jesus, what's wrong with your mind?"
" The way you worded it was weird," Lindsay said.
Everyone went into their hospital rooms because it was getting dark. Derek was still up. He couldn't sleep. He couldn't think. Askova now knows that he likes her. Who knows what she might do next. This experiment was making his head turn.
