Dr. Atkinson was looking at the monitor as he cut into Askovas arm, the exact spot where she was bitten. When he cut as much as he needed, he grabbed Maggy's mutated serum, and turned off the anesthetic machine, ensuring that it was enough until she wakes up from the surgery.
" Let's hope this doesn't kill her," He quietly said to himself. Before injecting the needle into her arm, he made sure that he was able to put it into the right spot.
It has been a few hours, surprising she hasn't turned yet, he thought, I would expect some symptoms to show. When he was sure of the right spot, he quickly but carefully vaccinated her and kept an eye on the screen. He cautiously inserted the tiny camera used for looking at veins, which was created in the Netherlands.
He remembered Maggy telling him that when she took notes, the serum acted instantly, so he should see something. But what he saw on the screen was indescribable. He saw the Solanum Virus in her bloodstream, but the serum didn't seem to be doing anything. Had he mutated it wrong? He didn't know.
The cells for the Solanum Virus seemed to fight off the serum perfectly fine, and the virus just stayed there. After close inspection, it turns out her immune system created a strong wall to block out the virus, with the others killing off the virus. But some of it still lingered.
" What?" Dr. Atkinson looked closely and saw that the virus has been blocked up in her bloodstream. Her antibodies came to the rescue and quickly fought the rest of the virus. It was done.
" What the hell was that?" He has never seen that before. So apparently, she was immune. And everyone else wasn't. The Solanum Virus 1 is a very strong virus, in which there is no cure, and incredibly hard to be immune to.
He patched Askova's arm up, and put away all of his stuff, writing down his findings after. He waited a few minutes for her to wake up.
" Man, I finished early," he whispered. Right after he said that Askova woke up.
" Am I dead?" she asked, jokingly.
" No, you are not. You are far from it."
" What does that mean?" Dr. Atkinson sighed. He helped her up, and put her in a nearby wheelchair, and wheeled her to her room. When he entered, everyone but Maggy was asleep. The surgery took a few hours. He handed Maggy the clipboard. She went wide-eyed.
"Oh, my god." She looked at Askova in the wheelchair. Askova was confused, but eventually knew what she was talking about. She was immune.
