The group was settled into their hospital rooms after the health checkup. They were showered, dressed, and fed after given their rooms. Everyone had their own room on the same floor, which was floor 7. The only floors available were 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. The parking spots were available, except for floor 6 which was not available, according to Dr. Atkinson. They don't know why. The other people there don't know why either but didn't care.
Askova decided to take some time out of her hospital room, still waiting for her results to see if she was infected or not. She was walking down the hallway when she stumbled upon Michaela's room. The door was slightly open, and the lights were on. She heard Michaela say something, so she hid beside the door so Michaela won't see her.
" Derek, you need to tell her. If you like her, she needs to know," said Michaela in a kind of whisper. Askova was very curious at what Michaela and Derek were talking about, so she stayed. She heard some whispers and couldn't make it out. Then she heard something else.
" It's so weird, we're in an outbreak, and I already like someone," Derek said. Michaela sighed.
" Derek, why do you like her?" Michaela asked. Derek looked at her.
" I don't know. I really don't. But when I'm around her, I get butterflies in my stomach." Michaela looked sad. Derek looked down again. Michaela was walking towards the door and Askova saw this, so Askova quickly walked towards the direction she came from and walked towards the door again. Michaela walked out and saw Askova walking down the hallway. She was startled a bit. Michaela waved. Askova waved back. She peered into the room and saw Derek look sad, sitting on the bed. Askova continued walking.
Askova eventually caught up with Michaela. She decided to walk with her.
" He Michaela, why is Derek in your room? He looks sad," asked Askova not trying to reveal what she heard. Michaela looked away.
" Um, he's... not feeling well. That's all," replied Michaela. She picked up the pace, looking away from Askova, and turned left. Askova just stopped and pondered.
" What the hell? Is it something I said?" Askova was confused. She was really wondering who Derek liked. She shook it off and continued walking towards Dr. Atkinson's office. To help her get there, she looked at multiple signs along the way, getting lost a few times. She was going to She eventually found his office and knocked on his door.
" Come in," he said. Askova opened the door. Dr. Atkinson was still analyzing the results, but it looked like a few were done.
" Um... I came in to see about the results."
Dr. Atkinson stopped what he was doing, turned around and looked at her.
" Well, I haven't gotten yours analyzed yet, but I have gotten a few done," he replied. He walked over to a metal table and slipped the paper where the group wrote their names and other data on. It said approved on a few names including Dave, Michaela, Ray, and Lindsay. There was only Willow, Maggy, Derek, and Askova left. He was apparently analyzing Willows now.
" Soo... how is Willows looking?" she asked. Dr. Atkinson looked at his computer.
" Well, it looks good. I don't see any infections yet. But on her paper, she did put ADHD, so that might affect some things," he replied, walking back to his computer.
" Um, how?" Askova asked, looking confused.
" Well, a mental disorder will make you seem and act like a deadly, even if you're not infected," Dr. Atkinson replied.
" Deadly?"
" That's what we call those. They are deadly."
" We call them the name of the virus characteristic, cannibal."
" That's smart." Dr. Atkinson sighed, " The infection affects the brain, and having it will make a big toll on someone with a mental disorder. One of our patients here was hospitalized, and had to have therapy for-," the doctor stopped when Askova looked down. He stared at her, "are you okay" Askova nodded.
" My friend was hospitalized because of lung disease before she-." She sighed, and stopped, never daring to continue, "what happened to her? To the patient?" Dr. Atkinson looked befuddled.
" Well, we got her a psychiatrist. She's still trying to get through but I think she'll get getting better," replied Dr. Atkinson. Askova pondered. She then had an idea.
" Can I see her?" Askova asked. The doctor smiled a bit.
