The five-day mark was up and whether the Genin were prepared mentally or not, they had to quickly decide if they would step into the dangerous grounds that was the Chunin Exams.
However, unlike the rest of the rookies who were not told, Team 9 already knew that unless they three members in their team participated, they wouldn't be allowed entry and would be automatically disqualified. With the rest of the team in their hands, all three ninjas arrived early.
Not many words were exchanged between them once they met up outside the academy and they walked inside. Takashi was obviously eager by the way he kept skipping around, something that his younger brother could clearly tell since they were given the recommendations by their sensei.
He was also the main reason why Renji had to come no matter what. After all, Renji knew that to Takashi, the exams were his best way of proving himself to their father.
Although, even if he hadn't been doing it for his brother, Renji understood that their father would no doubt be thrilled at him taking the Chunin Exam so early on. Passing had been the only option he had been given. Even though he recognized he was the least likely to pass, he believed.
His Genjutsu might be recognized by others and it was truly quite strong, but unlike his teammates, he really didn't have what it took to be a ninja as of yet.
[Name]-san could easily read a situation and come up with the best solution, then strike mercilessly. His brother might not be as ruthless, but he hated losing and loved fighting with all his vigor. When it came to it, Takashi would battle any opponent to the end.
Renji, on the other hand, he really couldn't do it. That's why he had been serving as support until now. Only using his Genjutsu to trap and distract enemies, never to attack as it was the main purpose of the Genzou's Kekkei Genkai.
He had been thinking about all of this since he returned home with the recommendation in hand. He couldn't back out, but he was afraid to move forward too.
Those thoughts only intensifying as he gazed at the backs of his brother and friend, the two of them proudly walking straight. Their steps not faltering in the slightest.
They are really... incredible...
Unaware of what his twin had been anxious about, since he was a dense idiot, Takashi crossed his hands behind his head as he watched their surroundings, "You don't think that they will try to test us again before the actual exam, right?"
Just yesterday, the three of them had been attacked while they were alone, something that was obviously planned. They had no idea how strong their opponent might have actually been, however, he had only tried to scare them off and not to seriously injure any of them.
Had they been normal rookies like those years prior, they could have fallen for the stranger's trap. Unfortunately for him, they had been in enough C rank missions to be able to defend themselves against someone who wasn't trying.
After regrouping, they had figured out that that man had gone out there to test them.
Or as [Name] had explained, someone didn't want them to participate either because they didn't want Konoha to be embarrassed by a bunch of rookies or because they were worried for the kids' safety.
Whichever one it was, Team 9 didn't particularly care so they didn't investigate further.
"Who knows. However, any tests that follow now will be for everyone who's participating, not just us. Which means, that this time..." spoke up [Name] after letting out a hum, tilting her head as her lips curled slyly, "...they won't hesitate to come at us with everything they've got."
