Maryam's POV:
I ran from there, my feet couldn't stay longer. All I wished was to spend full time with my best friend at her wedding, but everything is messed up.
I know I did wrong coming out of there just like that not even informing Noor.
I came out of the hall, but I saw him staring at me confusingly, maybe he is thinking, why I am running out when my best friend got married.
I saw him coming towards me awkwardly, seeing my teary eyes, he saw me crying, Allah, I don't like anyone seeing me cry.
Bilal go away, please, my heart whispered when he came near to me, but I ran, ran from there, from him, from everything.
Going inside my room, I cried, I know its Allah's will, but I felt sad.
My heart was right, he is not meant for me but for my best friend.I wanted to scream, run somewhere and hide from the reality, I know I didn't love Shabaz and it was an attraction towards him, but still, it hurts badly, right here, pointing my heart.
How can Noor do this? No, I can't blame her, I know her better than anyone, she would never do this if she knows she is going to marry Shabaz.
"No one at fault, Maryam, it is you who simply dreamt of him, when he is not even meant for you, he was never yours, will never be" my mind mocked at me, and yes it is true, he is no one to me, but my best friends husband, it should always stay like that.
"Sorry, Noor, for escaping from there when you needed me the most, I am sorry" I start crying and my mind drifted to Bilal, why was he looked worried seeing me cry? "He would be worried if someone else also had been in my position, it is called humanity", this time mind perfectly shoot.
"I can sacrifice anything for my best friend if she is happy, then I am happy"
It's all Allah's will, he made them meet before, I know Noor had some sort of like towards the traffic guy who saved her from Fazil, and now he is none other than her husband.
He will make her happy and safe, he will fight the world for her, I am sure, Noor is lucky, though it hurts, it's okay until my best friend sounds safe and happy.
***********
Back at Ahmed mansion;Folding the prayer mats, Shabaz kept it in its own place.
"You can keep your dresses in the wardrobe, there is enough space," he said seeing her bag laying down.
"Okay," she slowly said it barely heard him.
"Hey, you can set everything, tomorrow, now it's already time, you take rest," he said when he saw her taking her bag to set everything in the wardrobe and she nodded.
She stood there not knowing what to do, she doesn't want to sleep in the same bed with him, she is not ready for anything.
Sensing her nervousness, he went forward to her slowly with his slow steps, seeing him coming towards her, she made her step backwards until bed stopped her way.
She stood there breathing heavily, she is scared, what he is up to?
Shabaz leaned towards her, bending he took a pillow from the bed, it made her relief. He wanted to laugh seeing her reaction but remained silent."I will sleep on the couch," he said sensing her nervous, he went near the wardrobe to take the duvet, she felt bad, this is his room, his bed, he is not supposed to sleep on the couch but me.
"I will sleep on the couch" she slowly said but Shabaz acted like he didn't hear, he arranged the pillow on the couch and slept.
"Off the light and sleep" nodding to his words, she slept on the right side of the bed.
Shabaz couldn't sleep on the couch, it is smaller than his own size, but managed to sleep.
She is mine, finally, I can do anything for her, if she is not comfortable around me, I will give her space, I don't want to force her into anything. She is married to me, I am her husband and she is my wife, that's what matters, he thought. In the awkward position, somehow sleep took over him.Noor couldn't sleep, she is mentally exhausted, sleep nowhere near her, her thoughts circled about her family and Maryam. She heard Shabaz hissing in his sleep, oh, Allah, he can't sleep on the couch, it is smaller than him" she felt bad for making him sleep there, why I am always making others suffer?
*************
Sunlight hit her face making her wake up from her deep slumber, he stood there near the bed, stared at her beautiful face which shines under the sunlight, so beautiful but mine.
He saw her few beautiful locks spread on the pillow and few on her temple, for the first time he is seeing her hair, which is covered under her hijab, I want to see her hair fully.Rubbing her eyes she got up suddenly when she sensed intense gaze on her, Shabaz rubbed back of his neck awkwardly when she caught him staring at her, she slowly made her way to the washroom.
Shabaz is working on the laptop sitting on the couch, she came wearing the simple black salwar.
He gazed at her, she saw him staring at her, she narrowed her eyes, and he lowered his eyes deep into his laptop.
He caressed his neck, which didn't go unnoticed by her, he is in pain, sleeping on the couch.Someone knocked on the door, wrapping her hijab properly she opened the door, smiling face of her sister in law came into a view, Sana hugging her coming inside, and she saw her brother who is working in his laptop, "What is it, Bhai, working on the very next day of your wedding" saying this she rolled her eyes at him and took his laptop from him.
"Mom is calling both of you, all are waiting on the breakfast table" she left saying.
"Come let's go," Shabaz said making her nod her head, both left the room together, Shabaz is smiling at himself, he pinched himself to make sure it is true, she next to him, walking with him as his wife. She saw him pinching himself, he just smiled at her awkwardly when he understood she saw it. So embarrassing.
While walking her hand brushed lightly on his, it sent some sensation on his body, slowly he took her hand into his, who suddenly flinched on his sudden touch, he held it tightly, both descended the stairs holding hands which didn't go unnoticed by everyone present there, sensing their gaze Noor abruptly left his hand. MashaAllah, everyone's heart whispered.
"Finally, you both came," Safiya said happily, she could sense the happiness on her son's face. Alhamdulillah.
"Ahem, Ahem, holding each other's hands," Shahad said dramatically high-fiving with his sister.
"Can't I hold my wife's hand?" Shabaz winked at them.
