As the morning of the County Fair arrived, Amelia woke up bright and early.
"Today is the day to save the ranch!"
She walked across the room to get ready after freshening up. With one last glance in the mirror after getting ready, Amelia went downstairs to find Wyatt serving up breakfast.
"Morning, sleepyhead."
Just as Wyatt saw her outfit, Amelia smirked as she placed a hand on her hip.
"See something you like?"
"Absolutely."
He pushed a plate of bacon and eggs towards her.
"Now, eat up. You're gonna need all the energy to handle the County Fair."
Later, Amelia, Wyatt, and Luke pulled up to the fairgrounds where there was a swirl of activity as delicious smells wafted out of the food stands as screams of excitement radiated from the carnival rides.
"Heya folks, welcome to the County Fair!"
"Amelia, this is Mayor Dale Smith. Dale, this is my friend, Amelia."
"It's nice to meet you."
"And that's my cue. I'll go unload the cow at the livestock pavilion."
"You competin' in the rodeo today, son?"
"Not today, but we've got a cow in the dairy judging and pie in the baking contest."
"Aw, that's swell, just swell!"
"Speaking of, where do our pie go?"
"Uh... Well... Maybe that way? No, wait, it's over there?"
"Don't worry about it, Mayor, we'll figure it out."
Amelia whispered to Wyatt.
"So, do anybody actually knows what's goes on around here?"
"You'll see in three... two... one..."
"Sarah, perfect timing!"
"Yes, Mayor?"
"Sarah's in charge? Is there anything that woman can't do?"
"Not that I've found."
Sarah walked over, all business as she carried a clipboard and wore a headset.
"What can I do for y'all?"
"These folks are wonderin' where to take their pie. I can't remember, is it the red tent? Or the yellow one? Or am I thinking of purple?"
"Yellow tent, right this way!"
"Thank you, Sarah, you're a total life-saver!"
As soon as she ushered Wyatt and Amelia out of earshot of Mayor Smith, she laughed.
"I'm so glad that he didn't send you all over the place since we've lost and found five fairgoers this morning."
Sarah flashed Amelia a brilliant grin.
"You look really great today, Amelia."
"Thanks, must be the new outfit."
"I think it's just you and ranch life totally agrees."
She turned to Wyatt and tapped her clipboard.
"Are we gonna see you in the rodeo tonight?"
Amelia saw a flicker of sadness flash across Wyatt's face.
"Actually, he's sitting this one out."
"That's a shame, Wyatt. I love watching you compete and plus, I was hoping I'd get to see you put that bastard Rick Sparrow in his place."
