As the morning of the trip arrived, Amelia found Wyatt sitting at the breakfast table with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Morning, Wyatt."
"Good morning, Amelia. You ready for our road trip to downtown Phoenix?"
"I think so but I have to admit that I'm not really sure what to expect."
"It'll be fun and since we don't have to go to the bank until Monday, we'll probably just spend the day explorin'."
"In that case, I should probably go get ready!"
Amelia went upstairs to shower and then looked through her bags as she changed into her clothes that she had been saving since she arrived at the ranch.
After getting ready, Amelia started to walk out of the room but shot a quick glance at her windowsill where a familiar companion was resting and with that, she went downstairs to meet the Birchwoods out on the driveway as they were packing up the car and Wyatt stopped short when he caught sight of her.
"Amelia, you look..."
He trailed off and as gave the the brim of his hat a playful tap and she grinned.
"Thanks, cowboy."
"If I was a fashion blogger, I'd totally put your look on a magazine cover."
"Everyone got everything?"
"Where's the money?"
"Right here."
"I'm so excited!"
"Y'all got room for one more? Got to take care of something."
"Sure, hop on in."
Amelia slid into the middle row of the car and gestured the seat next to her to let Wyatt sit next to her.
"Come on, Wyatt."
Wyatt sat in the seat next to her with a grin.
"It's cozy back here, isn't it?"
"Is that a problem?"
"Not at all."
"How old is this car and are we sure it can drive?"
"Hey, this car been around since we were babies."
"Before that, it's older than you."
Clint climbed into the driver's seat and soon everyone was cruising down the highway.
"So, everyone, what's the worst trip you've been on?"
"This one to be exact."
Amelia looked behind her and saw where Luke was squished in the very back.
"This isn't worse than the time I went on a school trip from LA to Virginia since I had to sit next to someone I didn't like the entire time."
"School and road trips are not a good combination especially when I took a trip in middle school where one kid got sick and let's just say there was a domino effect."
"Oof, what about you Carter?"
"Can't really say that my trips been memorable if they were good or bad."
Amelia looked out of the window, fascinated by the landscape passing by and feeling relaxed, she closed her eyes for a little while and woke up with her head on Wyatt's shoulder as they made it way down the road.
"Oh, sorry!"
"No worries, I don't mind."
"Guess I was more tired than I expected, what did I miss?"
