Beyond the Known

Short AN: yooooo guys. So, I've been a little late on getting these chapters up, and that's because I'm going through some stressful times. My birthday is Sunday, and my grandma keeps pestering me for things I want even though I shared a list to her, my mom and I are trying to get a farm but the banks are slow af, and finals are coming up at school. Yaaaaaaay.

Ah, but never fear, as I will still try to update this regularly. I will still aim for Wednesday's, but I might miss a few and have to post Thursday or Friday. I'm also getting ready to start a new series crossing Sonic the Hedgehog with ARK: Survival Evolved (cause c'mon dinosaurs and Sonic are a good mashup). I'll describe more of that in comments or DMs if y'all interested. Chapter one comin' out probably Friday or somethin'. Depends on me and if I can find suitable cover art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No one's PoV:

The hedgies were on the road again, forced along by Shadow. They were approaching the edge of the forest they'd camped in, and all of them were bristling with anticipation. "So, this is the Silver Blood borderline?" Sonic asked his accurately named companion. Silver nodded. "Yeah. We own nothing beyond this forest, so this is technically beyond the provinces."

"And the unknown." Shadow reminded the two excited males. "We don't know the flora and fauna of these areas, so we don't know what is and isn't poisonous or hostile." Sonic waved his hand dismissively. "Big teeth, looks like a cat, boom." Sonic claps his hands together dramatically. "Predator that wants to eat our faces." Silver chuckled and Shadow deadpanned. "Not all carnivores are cats, Sonic." He growled, stopping and turning towards him. Sonic shrugged. "I thought it was good." He quipped, stopping and watching a bee fly by. "Besides, we don't know what other dangers await us." Shadow continued, resuming his walking.

Silver nodded. "Dad does have a point." Shadow seemed to thank him with a look. "There could be anything lurking beyond these woods." Sonic rolled his emerald eyes. "Ooooooh, a creepy fat guy's really gonna chase us swift hedgehogs down; ooh I'm so scared." He mumbled sarcastically. Shadow snorted, and pushed away some more vegetation to reveal to them a stunning grassland. "Wow." Silver breathed as he emerged. "It's gorgeous." Sonic popped out of the trees moments later, gawking at the sight himself. "Whoa." He sputtered out.

Shadow took a deep breath. "I think I wanna take my time, now." Sonic mumbled as he stepped from the trees. Shadow followed him closely, keeping his eyes peeled for any danger. Silver hesitated, his golden eyes scanning the plains wearily. After a few moments more, he followed his companions out into the sun. Little did Silver know, something not far off began to wake at his footsteps.

Something dangerous.
