Btw not my best chapter but I had to put out something.
"Guys, if I just scratch it here, I might be able to get out"
The newsies in the basement quietly spoke out. They were discussing what chance Race would be able to break free.
"Racetrack there isn't any point?" Spilts spoke out in her Bronx accent "Scratching it against the stupid wall won't work" The wall was quite stupid indeed, it was very comfortable, to lean against.
"It might" Then Race turned to June with a smirk. He tried to make her smile a bit.
Ever since returning from Venom she either cried or just stayed silent. She was lied to her whole life. It sounded stupid but she always hoped her parents would return one day, thinking they were missing, people suggest they could be dead already but she ignored it. Until now. But her own brother never even told her they were dead! He just made her think they were still out there. He could've given a hint or something!
"Do you think they've used the extra weapons yet in Brooklyn?" Freya asked out "They're probably in Brooklyn right now I'm guessing"
"Where is that box again?" Spilts spoke out only remembering it was in Brooklyn. Race wisbeard a bit more, making sure no one heard. "Next to Brooklyn Bridge. These big creates have them"
"How long do you think it'll last-"
Freya was cut off as the door opened. Footsteps came down the stairs as the newsies grew silent. They weren't, entirely, scared of Harlem but they didnt want another beating. June looked up and saw two figures. The light, from the window, shined threw onto them.
"My, my, aren't you supposed to be tough? You know big newsies" A boy laughed around the age of 17. June tried to keep her head down, but she manged to see his brunette hair and weird purple makings on his neck.
"Hick, can you just shut up! Venom sent us to get the job over and done with" Another boy stood by the stairs. The boy, Hick, groaned at him "You're boring, Liam, just having some fun"
He made a little eye contact with June. She tried to look away, so he could draw his attention somewhere else, however that wasn't the case as a small pocket knife came out of Hick's pocket. "Your lucky day sweetie. Venom wants you upstairs"
He cut the tight ropes off of June and pulled them off. She tried to grab onto Racetrack but was pulled away very quickly. "No, no, we're not having part two of screaming and crying. I heard you while I was playing cards, it wasn't pleasant"
"Can I just say goodbye quickly?" June asked quietly, hoping he would say yes. His hand held onto her upper arm. She was a bit shaking as she was standing, used to be sitting down for a long time, and it made her legs hurt.
Hick leaned forward, to be on her level, a smirk placed on his face. His eyes moved to Racetrack back to June "Give a little kiss first" He pointed to the side of his cheek to show where the kiss should be.
"Em.eh..no thank you" June spoke out to the comfortable offer, a slight blush filled her cheeks. However this meant she couldn't get her hug from Racetrack. She turned to him but his eyes were growing fire onto Hick. Race spoke "You know you can get something more effective than a kiss"
"Like what?-"
Like a quick flash Race stood up, arms free, and attacked Hick. Liam, who was still by the stair way, started to shout on people to come down. Spilts and Freya were shouting saying what a stupid move he made.
"Racetrack what are you doing?! You're trying to be dead?!"
"Race! You idiot!"
"Racetrack!" June slightly screamed as the fight got more intense. Hick beginning to fight back hitting Race in the face. Some boys came from upstairs and began getting Racetrack. They pinned him to the floor as Hick got up and brushed himself off.
