Chapter 5 - Gone For Good

I pushed him away gently, and got up. I looked at my soaked clothes, and frowned at Toothless. He smiled, and I didn't hesitate to do the same.

"Toothless, why are you here?"

He looked at his tail and then I saw why he was here. The tail fin that Hiccup made for him, was gone.

"Did the lightning do this to you?" I asked, examining his tail. He nodded his head.

I walked over to Hiccup and picked him up in my arms, laying him down in front of Toothless. Toothless cocked his head in confusion, as to why he wasn't standing.

"He was struck by lightning, bud. He didn't make it." I walked over and hugged him.

"Astrid?" A voice called out behind Toothless. I let go of him and looked over his wing. I backed away and tripped over Hiccup, reaching for my axe.

I squinted my eyes, trying to make out the figure, but the darkness made it difficult to see.
