"You're all clear." Caitlin stated, scanning over tests she took on the monitor. "Nothing is physically wrong with you." She turned around to face Barry and Oliver. They were in the med bay while the rest of the team were in the cortex.
"Are you sure?" Oliver asked, sitting on a chair next to Barry's bed. He held Barry's hand tightly, refusing to let go. He just got him back. He wasn't planning on losing him ever again.
"I'm positive. I checked his blood, urine, brain- anything I could possibly think of. Nothing is wrong." Caitlin answered.
"His heart rate didn't spike up for nothing, Caitlin!" Oliver snapped, gripping onto Barry's hand even tighter. He was slowly losing it- afraid that Barry was still in danger. All he's ever wanted to do was protect him, and he couldn't even do just that.
"Oliver, please." Barry said, gazing at his two friends, laying on the bed.
"No, Barry! I need to make sure that she knows what she's doing. If she's even a real doctor!" Oliver argued.
"I do know what I'm doing and I am a real doctor. I'm telling you that there is nothing physically wrong with Barry!" Caitlin shouted.
As Oliver was tempted to yell at her back, he was interrupted by Barry shaking. "Ollie!" Barry called. He squeezed Oliver's hand as he clenched his other hand onto the bedsheets. Ringing were clogging his ears. "Ollie, help me!" Barry cried, groaning in pain.
Oliver raised himself off the chair, reaching for Barry's other hand and grabbed it. As he held Barry down to stop him from shaking, he turned his head to face a terrified Caitlin. "I'm sorry for yelling at you but please! Check again. Just help him, alright?" Caitlin nodded, rushing out the room. The team followed her.
"Barry! I know it hurts, but you can get through this! You're the strongest person I know," Oliver sobs. "Come back to me. Come back."
Barry stopped shaking. Gasping for air, he opens his eyes to a crying Oliver. He pulls Oliver onto him, hugging him. "You always bring me back." He whispers.
"We're gonna help you," Oliver promises. "I'm gonna help you."
"Ollie," Barry begins. He lets go of Oliver so they could face each other. Oliver sat on the bed next to him. "I-it's the Speedforce. That's what's hurting me."
Oliver wraps his hand around Barry's hand. "What do you mean?"
"Caitlin was right. Nothing is physically wrong with me. At Hub City, I wasn't in danger. At least not by anyone there," Barry explains. Oliver looked at him with confusion. He didn't understand whatever it was that Barry was telling him. "No one was hurting me. I was trapped in the Speedforce. It was all in my head. It told me that there's a darkness coming. That my connection to it was fleeting away. And I'm so scared, Ollie. I'm so scared that..." Barry trails off, fighting back a tear. "That it won't be in my head anymore. That they're right. That soon, it's gonna come for me. That it's coming for you."
"Barry," Oliver started. He placed his free hand on Barry's cheek. A small smile painted his face. "You're safe... with me. I will never, ever, ever, let anything happen to you. Whatever is coming for you, for us, I'll fight alongside you. Like I always have. Like I always will."
Barry bit his lip to stop himself from smiling. "You didn't have to yell at her." He joked.
Oliver laughed. "What can I say? I will do anything to protect my Barry Allen."
"Your Barry Allen?" Barry asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Yeah. What? You don't like it?"
