Time- Maven

I lead Mare to the royal graves, I have a little surprise. "I talk to my mom all the time down here, I thought you could talk to someone too." She looks at me with her eyes wide, a little smile forming. She races down, and I have to skip every other step to keep up.

The grey stone has Shade Barrow carefully carved into the middle, I had it specially made so it had an illustration of the jumper ability on it. "Hi big brother," Mare kneels, crying. "I miss you," she touches the illustration, her nails making a screech. She turns to me, reaching her hand for my knee. "If it's a boy or a girl, can I pick the middle name?"
I can't say no to her, how could I? "What would you like hunny?"
"Shade. I don't care if it's either gender, I just really want it." She almost breaks. "Okay Love,"

Mare has a full conversation with her deceased brother.
"Farley is pregnant, so am I."
"I hope that you see everything down here. Well not everything." She smirks over at me, tears still filling her eyes.
"I love you so much Shade, I miss you. I really wish you were here."

I take my leave, I have a country to rule. I mean, I love you Mare but I can't give up being king. Lord Iral catches me at a perfect time. "Sir, you and Queen Mare have a council meeting."
"Mare is busy," I wave my hand as a gesture to leave.
"Sir, this is about the guard."
I turn and quickly walk with him. "It will be just me, Mare is visiting her brother."
"I, without you? Sir, they could take her!"
"Her deceased brother. Sentenials guard all entrances and exits," I sigh.

"Lord Volo, I'm not sending Mare back,"
You idiot. I know your plan.
He wants me to send his Queen back to her family and friends, so she can get attached and run away, forcing me to marry Evangeline. Gross.
"House Samos, your dismissed. Get out of my court."
"Maven? Why would you do that?!" Evangeline doesn't know how to use titles...
"I'm your king. Address me properly,"
"Sorry, your majesty."
"The two Samos children can stay, Volo get out."
He reluctantly leaves, giving his kids a  death stare. The doors open behind me, hurried whispers follow. Mare sits at my right, eyes still red and puffy. She should have gotten a healer. Evangeline quickly leaves her house area and comes to talk to Mare. "You okay Mare?"
"I'm fine Evangeline. Thank you,"
She gestures for her to leave and gives a genuine smile.
"Continue, I'm sorry for my interruption." She says coldly. Lady Blonos did a great job building a mask. Mare looks at her stomach. She hasn't been herself lately.

The meeting is finally over, but as Queen, Mare has to do a luncheon with the Ladys. I hear snippets of conversations as I walk past. "Queen Mare, what is the name for the child?"
"Well, if it's a boy it will be Maven the second I think. If it's a girl, I don't know."

I'm glad the stupid luncheon is over. Mare finally comes to our quarters. She is now a month pregnant, and has a bump. "Looking beautiful my Queen," I smirk. She laughs.
"Sorry I took longer, I was talking to Shade again." She smiles, and changes into comfy clothes. "It's fine, let's just go to bed." I slip under the satin sheets and fall asleep quickly.
