joyful- Mare

Out of no where, I feel just a sudden sting of pain. I was just walking, I'm no where near Mavey, Where the hell are you?!
"Guards! Get Maven, or somebody!" I hiss.

They sprint back with Gisa and Maven. "Babe! Are you okay?!"
A sting of pain jolts through my body.
"Now," I clench my teeth.
He grabs me and carrys me, Gisa at my other side.

"It's time Queen Mare,"
"Gisa, go get everybody," Maven turns.
"It'll be okay, Mare. I'll be here waiting." Time babies.

"Welcome to the world Valerie,"
"Welcome to the world Thomas,"
I cradle Valerie, and Maven holds Thomas.
"Aren't they gorgeous?"
"They are beautiful Mare,"
I hold Valeire tightly, and warn Maven to do the same. "I hear the Barrow family," I chuckle. A hint of a smile tugs on his lips.
"Where are those beautiful babies?!" My mom bursts in. Maven gives her Thomas right after she comes in.

"How are you Sweetheart?" My dad asks me. "I'm fine, just hurts." A weak smile plasters on my face. The babies had to be checked on, and Maven wanted to watch. "I remember sitting hear after you were born. Of course, not in a palace," He chuckles.
"I'm glad you came papa." I take his hand. "I am too Mare,"

"Mare," Cal nods. He went to see Valerie and Thomas before me. "Hey Cal," I wave. "Congratulations, on you know," He stutters. He still loves me, but I don't. "Being pregnant and giving birth?" I smile. He barely nods. "Who was born first?" He asks, he wants to know who's the heir. "I don't need my children to know who is going to rule yet, Cal." I sigh. "I'm not letting what happened to Maven and I to my kids,"
"What happened to Maven and you?" He quirks an eyebrow.
"My sister, Gisa always outshined me. You, always won the favor of your father," My eyes darken at the mention of his father. "Mare! One child is a silver and one's newblood!" Maven screeches like a little girl. "Who?" I ask, trying to sit up. "Thomas is the silver, and Valerie is a newblood." We both smile, and he kisses me. Cal looks disgusted and walks away.

"So who was born first?" Maven asks me. I'm still in the infirmary, seeing as I barely gave birth 12 hours ago. "Valerie, a newblood will be the heir to the throne," I smile. I am the queen, but I was chosen. Valerie got lucky. I'm glad. "Will there be a Kingstrial?" I laugh. "Let's pray to god not," Maven smirks. We hug awkwardly, as I am lying down, and Maven has to go to a council meeting.

"Queen Mare, you are allowed to leave now," My nurse smiles. Maven already helped me up, and now were out the door. I hold both children tightly, and don't let anyone but me and Maven touch them. We have to go into Ceasers Square for a broadcast. I keep my children's faces away from the cameras and people, tucking them into a blanket to save them from prying eyes and the cool air of Nortan fall. "Show us the children!" I hear screamed through-out the crowd. I give a glance to Maven and he shuts everybody up. "My children will not be shown yet. My husband and I decided that long ago," I state, holding them a bit tighter. Maven smiles at me, gesturing for me to go inside.

"Where are the children going to sleep?" I ask Maven. "In their own rooms," He states eating grapes. "Can we have them sleep in bassinets  in our room?" I ask, my voice shakey. "Of course, is anything wrong?" Maven turns to me, holding Thomas. "I don't want them far. Not yet," I murmur. Maven nods, and calls for a maid. Valerie starrs in my arms, but I quickly calm her, and rock her. "Will you bring the two bassinets in here?" He asks. The maid nods and runs off to get them.

I put Valerie in her bassinet, and then grab Thomas from Maven. I tuck them both in and sit near them for a good hour. "Hunny, I have guards at our doors and I locked the windows." He sighs. "I, know what risks royalty comes with. I can't let them get hurt," I murmur. "I asked for more guards at every entrance and exit, and some patrolling the halls. Were safe," He comes and picks me up, I give no fight. He puts me down on the bed and I get comfy under the covers.

I wake up to both babies crying, and I jump out of bed, electricity sparking on my hands. I see a figure, and immediately grab their neck, sending shocks through their body. I turn on the lights by controlling the wiring, an d see Cal's body on the ground. I didn't send enough power into him, so he isnt dead but I still scream. "Mare?!" Maven jumps up. I grab Valerie and Thomas, and point to Cal's body. I run to the only safe place I know.

"Mare? What are you doing it's two am." Bree asks as I stand out of the royal apartment doors. "I, can I please come in?" I ask shaking. Bree gestures to take Valerie, and I reluctantly give her to him. "What happened?" He asks as we sit on the couch. "Cal, he, he came into my quarters and, tried," I sob and hold thomas's head to my heart. "He tried to take my babies," I sob into Bree's shoulder. Mom and Dad come out and sit next to me as I cry. Dad eventually takes Thomas from me, just in case I spark.

I wake up on the couch in my family's apartment. I see Maven in the kitchen with Farley? "Wha?" I ask sleepily as I wake up. I quickly remember the events of last night, and jump off of the couch. "Where are my children?!" I scream. Maven rushes over to me and hugs me tight. "Shh, shh. Your mother has them. It's okay," I hold on to him, and almost cry but keep my emotions in check.
