Jason recognized it immediately.

"What was that?"

Lydia asked.

"Quick run!"

Jason knew who the roar belonged to. He remembered that night Jeffrey was attacked. They started running in the opposite direction. Angel took off and she grabbed Lydia with her claws. But they soon saw the green dragon hovering above them, and they were forced to land. The green beast landed in front of them. Jason saw the scar it had on its tail. The spikes spreading in their direction. It's big yellow eyes recognizing Jason. The dragon opened it's fanged mouth and let out another ear piercing roar. Jason took his sword out and pushed Lydia behind him. But she took her bow out. Angel backed away though. The dragon swung its spiky tail at them, and they dived to dodge it. All of the sudden, someone jumped in front of them and swung their ax at the dragon. It was Grant Walker. The dragon backed away. Grant grabbed Jason's sword and started banging the two weapons together. It made a big clunking noise. The sound made the dragon shake its head in confusion. Grant swung both weapons at it, and cut the end of its tail off. The dragon roared in pain. It tried escaping again but Grant was about to swing at its head.

"Wait!"

Lydia stopped him. The dragon was breathing hard, but it stopped fighting. Grant lowered his ax confused.

"What's wrong? It could of swatted you both dead."

"Listen. "

Grant and Jason listen for a second. They heard a tiny roar. And out of the bushes, a green dragon the size of a big dog emerged from them, and she went to go join the bigger dragon.

"You see, it was trying to protect its baby. If the night hunters would just see that some creatures don't mean to be violent. We could see more of them."

Jason and Grant stared at the baby and its father. Lydia took a bandage out of her bag, and approached the father dragon. It was really weak now that the end of his tail was cut off. Lydia waited to see if the dragon was going to let her approach him. The dragon saw the bandages that Lydia had in her hands. She stepped forward, the dragon moved his tail towards her so she could wrap the dragon's tail with the white bandages. Blood seeped through them. The baby green dragon ran playfully towards Lydia. She made eye contact with the father dragon. He looked like he was grateful that they stopped fighting him. Lydia pat the baby girl dragon.

"Why did you decide to help us?"

Jason asked Grant.

"I don't know, I just heard the loud roar and I remember fighting dragons when I was a night hunter. I know how they can be hard to fight. And I was wondering if I came back to Alton's village, if Keenan would forgive me. But it's probably stupid. He's hated me for seventeen years. And to him, I'm just a murderer. He would send me to BoKaj prison the second he sees me again."

He looked embarrassed. Lydia was listening to their conversation.

"You just saved us from a dragon, I'm sure he wouldn't think of sending you there now. "

Grant sighed. The baby dragon was jumping all over Lydia.

"Don't you guys want to come play with the baby dragon?"

Lydia asked them. Grant and Jason saw that Angel was sitting ten feet from the dragons, looking pretty afraid.

"Why doesn't your griffin go play with it?"

Grant asked.

"Angel might be brave when she fights robbers, but when it comes to dragons, she is dead afraid."
