During this time, Jason was still trying to get as far away as possible from Alton. It took about half an hour to get from Alton's castle to Oscana and Ebdom's border. After a while Jason and his horse arrived in front of the Tarc wetlands. The deepest swamp in the abandoned woods. The waters were a murky green. Fleggan reeds growing out of it. It smelled strongly of wet mud and rotten tree bark. Jason definitely did not want to fall in it. But there was no way around it. Jason knew that if he or his horse were to step in this swamp they were going get stuck in the thick mud, and they were going to sink pretty quickly. So he descended from his horse. There was large rock about three meters away from Jason. Jason thought that his horse Ace wouldn't like to try jumping over the swamp. But maybe he could find a way for himself to jump to that rock. He looked around on the ground, and saw a long stick on the ground. It was about seven feet long. He wanted to use it as a pole to jump to the rock. He looked at it and was about to try it.

Up in the air, Lydia and Angel, caught sight of Jason and his horse.

"They're going to drown if they go in there. "

Lydia told Angel. The griffin shook her head.

"Even if he was going to poison him, we still have to help."

Jason backed up to get more momentum before the jump. But as he jumped, and the stick hit the rock, it slipped and broke. Jason fell in the thick mud. He tried swimming to that rock. Lydia and Angel landed in front of the swamp and they watched Jason climb onto the rock. Jason's horse was startled by Lydia's arrival. "Do you need any help?" Lydia asked him. Jason slipped and fell back in the mud. Jason turned and saw them ten feet away. "No, I'm fine. I got it." After thirty seconds, he was now standing on top of the rock. His armor and his clothing were drenched in mud and dirty swamp water. Lydia watched him."How are you going to get back on this side?" She asked him. "I'm not going back Lydia. Your father and my uncle are already mad at me, I would do them a favor to stay away from Alton." He saw another rock and was about to jump to it. Lydia saw a couple of bubbles near it. "I wouldn't jump on that rock if I were you." Lydia warned him. Jason rolled his eyes. "And why not?" He was preparing to jump again but he saw the bubbles too. Then, he saw something rise from from the waters. It had a round slimy green head, and three eyes. Jason soon saw that it also had five tentacles. He jumped in the water and started to swim away from the hideous swamp creature. But its head started to inflate like a balloon. Lydia's jaw dropped. The creature was inflating itself with the swamp waters. Then it propelled itself towards Jason. It was trying to grab him with the tentacles. Lydia made Angel fly towards them. Jason raised his arm for Angel to grab it. But the creature got hold of Jason's foot. Jason saw a squid like mouth which the creature was pulling him towards. It snapped at him with what looked like fangs. Jason pulled his sword quickly and cut the tentacles with it. The creatures made this weird crying sound and It retreated under water. Then, Lydia made Angel grab Jason's arm. And they dropped him on the sturdy ground.

Jason gasped

"What was that thing?"

"I think it's called a three eyed gooble squid. Are you okay?"

Jason got up, and looked discouraged. He was still drenched in swamp water and mud, but now he had squid saliva all over his clothing and armor. "I'm fine." He was frowning. He looked at Lydia and the griffin and they had no mud or squid saliva on them. "Why did you decide to pull me out of there?" Jason asked. Lydia looked at him."Well you looked like you needed the help." Jason clenched his fist."I just cut its tentacles off, I could of finished it off, and got out of there on my own."

Lydia sighed. "A thank you would suffice."

She wiped her hands together.

"Why did you try to poison my father?"

Jason frowned again.

"Because he never appreciates the work I do for him. And because he was thinking of banning me permanently from the night hunters. "

"Ok well I'm sorry about that, but that's no reason to poison him."

Lydia told him.

"So what should I do then, go back and let him decide what I do for the rest of my life?"

"Well, if you wanted, I could talk to him."

Jason sighed.

"I don't think it's going to make a difference, but you can try if you want." Lydia looked at the sky, which was looking a couple of shades darker than before.

"It's going to get dark soon. We should probably set up camp."

Lydia suggested.

Jason nodded, He was still wondering what would happen to him if the commander or his uncle knew what he was about to do back at the castle.

"What were you and your father arguing about in his office?"

Lydia was surprised.

"Were you eavesdropping on our conversation?"

Jason shook his head.

"I just heard you guys yelling before I came up to your dad's office."

Lydia sighed.

"I was asking him if I could go explore in the forest, and learn about new species."

She said.

"And, I'm guessing he said no."

Lydia nodded.

"You're only 18 Lydia. I don't want you to get hurt." She imitated her father's voice.

Jason suddenly heard a sound from some bushes. Lydia turned to where he was staring.

"It's probably a squirrel or something."

Jason nodded.

They both set up camp, made a fire, and ate some blue and orange fruit Lydia had brought in her bag. Then Lydia fed Angel, Jason fed his horse. The four of them then went to bed.
