Chapter 10- Part III
You both bussed in silence to the nearest grocery store, which was currently only 5 minutes away. Looking outside the window, night fall was coming. The moon looked transparent, battling against the sun for recognition as the sun settled behind buildings, casting it's last breath before the earth swallowed its light. The bus was nearly empty, not too many people were using transit past 6:30. Internships ended an hour ago, and Akira would have already told Endeavour about Shoto having dinner at your house. It got you slightly anxious, dreading to attend his agency tomorrow. You've done nothing when it came to 'disciplining' Todoroki, not that you were ever planning on doing that. If anything, you've done the exact opposite of whatever Endeavour was asking you to do. You'd be more prideful, but constant disrespect towards a pro-hero could only soil your future reputation.
But if doing all these little things to avoid Endeavour made Shoto happy, then it was all worth while.
The continuous act of rebellion towards Endeavour wasn't new to Shoto. Often times he'd prolong his walk home, taking detours, stopping by shops, anything to escape his so called 'home'. He loved his siblings to death, no doubt, but his hatred for Endeavour was honestly suffocating. Right now, he was eternally grateful of you, taking extra steps just to steal him away from his hell of a house. Not to mention, he'd be dining with your family. The famous (L/N) family, King and Queen's residence. The (L/N) reputation was nothing short of legendary. Your family were known to be universal heroes, traveling a lot outside of Japan. The Uyeda name has also won over the hearts of many, they were famous doctors, surgeons, nurses, whatever you may call it. For Shoto, he felt the need to impress your parents, to cast a good image and hopefully not have himself compared to his old man. That's the last thing he'd want.
The bus stopped, and now the two of you were walking your way towards the Grocery store. This was another thing for Shoto. He'd never admit it, but he feels a little lame for never stepping foot inside a grocery store, he hopes you wouldn't shame him for it.
Stepping inside, it was nothing short of stimulating. It smelled strongly of food, mainly citrus fruit since they were the closest to the entrances. It was like a colourful food maze, with a thousand aisles with all sorts of treasured food that you'd stuff into your metal ship that rolled squeakily using 3 out of 4 wheels. Todoroki was slightly amazed at how big the store was, it made him huddle closer to you in fear of getting lost. Like a frightened son would to his mother.
You grabbed a shopping cart, and pushed it past the fruits and to the vegetables section. You thought of making cold soba, just so Todoroki would feel comfortable eating with your family. You grabbed a few vegetables that you thought would go good with cold soba, like some spinach. You never made soba before, so you'd have to ask either Shoto for help or one of the maids. You then started to make your way towards the noodle aisle.
Shoto followed closely behind like a lost puppy, glancing curiously at all the different displays of food. Some of them he's never seen before. He watched you put familiar noddles into your cart.
"Do you eat soba often for dinner?"
"No, but we did a couple of times." You mumbled lazily, scanning for other potentially better noodles before rolling to the next aisle; snacks.
You began piling a few snacks into your cart, mainly crackers and chocolates. You were never heavy on junk food, the fat was harder to burn off during training, but you gave yourself leeway when it came to chocolate.
"Pocky?" He eyed the bright red box that you dropped carefully into the growing pile of food.
"You've never heard of pocky?" You gasped slightly. "It's basically a cracker stick dipped in chocolate." You grabbed another box. "You'll try your first one today." You tossed it into the cart. "Any other snacks you find interesting?" Todoroki looked around. Non of them were even slightly familiar to him. His dual-coloured eyes finally landed on one particular packaged item. He went to grab it. You chuckled. "Peppermint?"
