As everyone got ready for the trail by combat, Alia had pulled Beric into a private corner of the cave to have a one to one discussion about him.
"Beric, there is no point in killing him but he had the orders given to him by Cersei and Joffrey. I wasn't there no but he wouldn't just kill a kid for the sake of it. He isn't his brother." She whispered to Beric as straps on his armour, not directly looking at Alia as she speaks.
"I am following the order of Lord Eddard Stark. Dead or alive. He commanded me to keep the peace and that's what I plan on doing. The fewer Clegane's there are in Westeros the better."
Alia couldn't believe what she was hearing. The man she loved had changed. He always respected her decision but he had changed.
"What's gotten into you? He's a good man."
At her words, Beric looked up to Alianora giving her a look of frustration by her words of Sandor possibly being a 'good man'.
"What's gotten into you more like." Beric mutters, pulling out his sword and nudging past her but before he could move any further away from her, she grips onto his shoulder and pulls him back.
"I'm being serious Beric. Yes he is as cold as ice on the outside but he saved me from Kings Landing. I was beaten and humiliated by Joffrey and his men..." Alia leaves out the part that it was Sandor who had hurt her but she wanted Beric to understand where she was coming from.
Sighing softly, he places his sword away and takes her hand into his softly, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb lightly making Alia feel all tingly inside.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you, Alia. But when he is gone, stay with me. I have loved you for the longest time." He whispered to her, making sure to catch eye contact with, well, his only remaining eye.
Alia's heartbeat quickens by his words. He finally admitted his feelings towards her but she thought she would be ecstatic. It was the words she longed to hear for the longest of times but she didn't feel anything.
That was until he brought his lips to hers.
It was as if she was being kissed by fire herself.
Her eyes flutter close and she pulls herself closer to the Lord as he wraps his strong arms around her frame, keeping her close.
The kiss was short but it was sweet.
As Alia pulled away, she took in a deep breath and felt her cheeks burn like fire as places another kiss to her lips and withdrew his sword again once more.
"I will fight for you, Alia. I can't let you travel with him anymore." He musters before stalking away from the breathless woman, her mind working like broken machinery as she comprehends what just happened.
She makes her way to where the trial will take place and places herself next to Thoros seeing as Arya was sending her death glares for not saving Micah and defending Sandor.
Uncomfortable by her, Alia moved her attention towards Sandor and saw as he equipped himself with a wooden shield and his large sword, swinging it about in his hands to prepare himself.
His eyes landed on her also, no expression on his face but little did she know that his heart was shattering.
He had gone to find her to ask why she defended him but when he did, he saw Beric and Alia kissing. She couldn't remove the image of her and him out of his mind, especially after her smile that followed.
He quickly ducked out of the way to not be seen and instead, he went over to Anguy and commanded for a shield.
He never usually wore one but he wanted extra protection. He wanted Alia to realise that she should stay with him and that he will protect her but his belief started to fade when everyone's eyes lit up to the sight of Beric's flaming sword.
He watched his sword burst with fire, making him become much less confident. Fire and swords were not a good combination, especially for him but somehow this seemed worse. Was he really going to die by Beric Dondarrion? A one-eyed swineherd?
Alia watched with a heavy breath, watching Sandor's horrified look as Beric's sword engulfs in flames.
Her palms became sweaty as the first sword was swung and the clang of metal nearly made Alia's eardrums shatter as she watched the two men who secretly adored her battle for their lives.
Sandor stumbles over some planks of wood causing flames to burn around his feet making him squirm in terror before kicking the logs away, specks of fire floating in the air.
Beric manages to block or every swing of Sandor, the force of his sword coming down on his own like a tonne of bricks.
"Kill him!" Arya screams out loud, becoming frustrated at every missed opportunity for Beric to strike Sandor down.
Alia snapped Arya a glare but she didn't notice, she was too invested in the fight in front of her.
Alia then gasped out loud when Sandor's wooden shield erupts into flames, Beric's flaming sword being the main reason why.
Sandor let out a loud battle cry as he takes one last swing at Beric, impaling his sword down Beric's shoulder and into his heart.
Alia watches in despair, not sure how to react as Beric crumbles to the floor with Thoros quickly pushing past Alia and cradling Beric's body, whispering incomprehensible words.
Alia quickly makes her way over to Sandor yanking the burning shield away from his arm as she rolls around on the floor, yelling in terror.
Alia then sees a shadow head her way and snaps her head in the direction of a furious Arya, blade in hand about to pounce and strike Sandor in the head but Gendry quickly runs around the other way and pulls her away from the pair of them.
"Looks like their God likes me more than your butcher's boy." Sandor mocks as he watches Arya get pulled away from him, a glorious smirk on his lips as Alia crouches behind him and holds down pressure onto his burnt wrist purposefully to shut him up.
At the sudden grip on his wrist, with his other arm he swings backwards knocking the person, unbeknownst to Sandor that it was Alia in the face with his arm causing her to curse out loud.
Hearing her small whimper, Sandor sits up and looks to Alia, blood dripping down her nose. She clenches onto it, Anguy quickly assisting Alia to her feet by the sudden face smack and rests his hand on his lower back and is about to lead her elsewhere until Alia turns to glare back at Sandor but her eyes land on Beric.
Her heart stops as the man she thought was dead emerges from the dead, more alive than before. He was still bleeding profoundly but Sandor, Alia and Gendry look to at Beric as if he were some type of God.
"What the fuck?"
